I still want her to do Operetta, honestly. I think Hayley would be amazing with that...

Hello Elliot! I think Hayley would be excellent in 'The Mikado' by Gilbert and Sullivan. Here's Valerie Masterson singing "The Sun Whose Rays Are All Ablaze": www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcNtTm5XEfYRichard

I agree, Richard. Hayley would indeed make a great Yum Yum. G&S have some amazing songs and I can't help thinking Hayley could do them justice in a way most other singers couldn't even dream of. She'd make a great Patience (Operetta of the same name, for those not sure), too. Most of G&S' female leads would be great for Hayley, though, as they tend to be young and sweet, which is pretty much Hayley normal. If she wanted to aim a bit darker, Elsie from Yeomen Of The Guard (Who betrays her lover for social advancement) would be a good choice. Their darkest story by far, but the songs are gorgeous. I Have A Song To Sing, O would be worth it on it's own: www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQh04-STjmUThere are also some great songs from The Desert Song, Camelot and especially Kismet (Imagine her duetting on Stranger In Paradise with Nathan Gunn... Be utterly definitive, wouldn't it?) I'd love to see her tackle (Yeah, none of them are G&S, but still!). Operetta is made for voices like Hayley's.

Honestly, one of my favorite performances of Hayley in recent years has been that Friday night radio thing she did a couple of summers ago with Tam Mutu (?). I forget exactly what she sang but it was kind of blue-grass or maybe old country... "Whip, Crack Away" might be the title. Anyway, I just remember thinking, wow she has a good voice for this type of music. I don't know how popular it is in the UK (Mumford and Sons I guess but less rock), but I'd personally love to hear do some Alison Krauss-like stuff.

Hi, That is a favorite of mine, too, and since I listen to it every-now-and-then, I have it bookmarked. www.hayley-westenra-international.com/content/hayley-friday-night-music-night-bbc-radio-2#deadwoodEnjoy, BobS

Ah yes, I recorded that. It was actually a BBC "Friday Night is Music Night" show about music from the movies. It was very enjoyable, and gave us yet another insight into the multi-faceted talent of our Hayley.

I've mentioned numerous times that I'd like to hear her do I'll Fly Away, and I'm pretty sure that was Alison Krauss, from O Brother Where Art Thou. But I also like the version that the Christian band Jars of Clay did with a lady singer, and I really liked it. That's actually what gave me the idea for Hayley to do it. Incidentally Jars of Clay also sang Love Came Down at Christmas, which is one Hayley has performed before. Of course Hayley's version is prettier, and I still wish the recording had turned out better so it could be on Winter Magic.

Me too! I'd love to hear Hayley sing that. I'd also like to hear her sing another song All Angels did called Singing You Through, I don't think it's one of their most popular songs but I really enjoyed it and I think it would be perfect for Hayley's voice. Sing

I still want her to do Operetta, honestly. I think Hayley would be amazing with that... Hello ! Elliot ! & Hi ! Guys !!! I have to say that I totally agree with you in regards to the choice of her doing more operetta . However , I somehow feel that THIS could , maybe , be The THING for her when she reaches the age of about , maybe 31 or 32 . In my humble opinion, THAT period would be like the golden timing opportunity for her to truly enter into that area. For an insanely gifted singer like Hayley , she can actually do a lot of things . But somehow I still feel that our girl is NOT as successful as she could have been otherwise. e.g. For the time being , it would be TOO LATE for her to start the journey on Broadway Musical & it would be , I dunno , absolutely NOT preferable for her to pursue those "HEAVY" training required to sing a FULL Opera. (& I DO NOT want to hear any more mean remarks from Dame Kiri Kanawa.) I'm NOT trying to find faults of her . To be very frank , she NEVER fails her fans. Instead , I feel that it's the music industry & the "MARKET" that has failed her . But No Matter What , she held on , & made the best of what-ever opportunity that has been given to her AND at the end of the day she manages to deliver a service to the music world that's altogether so beautiful & sublime that puts ALL those garbage pop songbirds of today to shame .(although , BEGRUDGING-ly , so many of them are getting a much bigger paycheck than Hayley. THEY always do. ) With all these being said above , I'd beg to be given the chance to add in my 2 cents regarding the "Direction" question. I personally , have always been struck by how GORGEOUS Hayley sound when she did Mozart's <Laudate Dominum> . To me, "Hayley + Mozart" seems like a pair made in Heaven . ( Sorry ! but I guess you Guys get the point .......) And "Hayley + G.F. Handel" doesn't look bad either . So my , suggestion would be , that , if ever she would want to "return" back to her comfort zone & retrieve those beloved classical pieces (Surely , she will be able to !) from the huge vault dominated by ALL those Great Composers , Art Songs & Sacred Pieces would always be a very much appreciated choice. (Opera Arias being another matter.) ........ whew ...... guess I've spoken a bit too much . but that's it for now ........ ( ) Best Regards Chungie

Sing All Angels version of I'll Fly Away, or Love Came Down at Christmas? I'm not familiar with All Angels' songs. Except that I'm aware that they've also covered Songbird.

All right, I'll check out that version. But she can't do everything that all the other CC girls do.

I'm afraid Ms Ritchie's appearance on religious programmes doesn't sit well with me given her recent language on C4's "Fresh Meat" and on her Twitter page, which for that reason I no longer follow.
