If Maire is pronounced Moya, then how do you say Mairead? Hello Libby! I believe Mairead rhymes with parade, but there may be a few variations with the first syllable. Richard

Richard No daw, when it comes to Irish, Richard. Spoken like a native. And (in Irish) the first syllable of 'Máiréad' (and 'Máire') rhymes with 'daw' .... 'Máire' doesn't sound like 'Moya' (except maybe in the US of A. ). Love your 'fadas' (on the 'á's), Michal. And Lisa Lambe (from Dublin) wanted to be a singer but became an actress. Paddy

She hasn't even started, so how can she be a successful Celtic Woman? Just kidding, I'm sure she'll do very nicely. I'll look forward to seeing what she's like.

Hi, Paddy!
Thanks for clarifying the pronunciation, xD! I was pretty sure about Máire not being pronouncved Moya, but then, what's the origin of Master Brennan adopting that name?
Oh, and about the 'falas', it wasn't hard for me to use them, as in Spanish we have them and use them in vocals to indicate, following some ortographic rules, the tonic syllable of a word. And, besides of that, I am a big fan of Irish culture (but not an expert, I wish I knew much more), so I try to get things as right as I can when it comes to Ireland.

I was 'just kidding' too, with a little word play ... on the success of an (already successful) Irish (Celtic presumably) woman ... in being accepted as the latest member of 'Celtic Woman'.

Last night I drove 160 miles to see the latest edition of the Celtic Woman group. When I bought my ticket I was not aware that Lisa Kelly would not be with them on this tour. While I respect their talent and hard work i must say that the show was a big disappointment to me. I love Chloe; however she can't carry the group like Lisa Kelly. Also they don't seem to mesh well together. I had to leave early but up to that point I heard no harmony like the group used to do so well. I hope they can right themselves; but I'm afraid it will take some doing.

I'm sorry, Larry, but I've never gotten the impression that any one lady was "carrying" the group. If anything, it was always Chloe who was prominent in the shows. Nearly always the first one out during a group number, one of the first one to start singing, if not the first. And that was with Lisa there. Yes, Lisa also led some numbers too. But I never thought it was more than Chloe. Less, if anything. And I happen to prefer Chloe's voice over the rest of the lot left now. I am interested in how Susan sounds. I hope she's better than Alex. Alex had a passable singing voice, of course, but she wasn't very original or exciting to me. That's the thing with the new girls. They don't always give them the best songs, in my opinion. I did end up getting the Believe DVD. My library only has the CD right now, and I much prefer the DVDs, although it's nice to have the CDs to listen in the car, or something. Also, Barnes & Noble was having a sale, but I changed my mind and ordered it from Amazon instead. They weren't having a sale, but my total ended up being only about 30 cents cheaper than my total at B & N would have been, so it wasn't much difference! I haven't played it yet, but then I did see the PBS showing.

When I first saw the Celtic Woman group in 2007 Hayley and Meav were rotating months. Having seen the group on PBS when Hayley was with them I was blown away by Hayley's talent. The girls were coming to St Louis for a performance; however Hayley would not be with them that month. St Louis is a 45 minute trip for me but I opted to wait until Hayley would be there. I found that Hayley would be in Nashville Tennessee the next month with the CW group. So I waited and loaded the dog , the cat, and of course Norma in our motor coach and went to Nashville to see the girls with Hayley . Hayley out shined everyone. Chloe was only 17 years old then . That performance by Hayley spurred my many trips to the UK and Ireland to see Hayley sing. I could be leaving soon for the Paradiso tour were it not for my 50Th wedding anniversary on March 3rd. Not to sell the CW group short I was extremely impressed by all the girls. Orla's rich voice and Meav's soprano along with Lisa Kelly were excellent. My previous comments were that although the group taken as individuals have very much talent but I don't think will ever match the chemistry and harmony the previous group possessed. And I still think that Lisa was the bonding agent that held them together.

I agree that CW was the best at the time of A New Journey, DVD and tour... not that I got to see them on tour. I heard about Hayley's participation in it too late for tickets, even though she was at the Seattle show. Also, at first I was a little hesitant, because I was not familiar with Celtic Woman shows, and also I was still sort of a new fan of Hayley's, well, at least that's when my obsession was first starting.

For artists like Hayley and Orla Fallon it is not the right thing to be part of a show for years. They have their own ideas and plans.
