Well any Thanksgiving Day parade without Hayley's participation is a turkey in my book. I made a pilgrimage to see her in the 2004 parade and she was a big hit. In fact, the crowd just gobbled her up. As for future Macy's parades, I wonder what's in store in that department.

Awesome! I knew Hayley had been in the 2004 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade but I'd never seen any pictures or videos. However, now that I look at the pic Taylor posted, I've seen that coat a few different places. There's a series of photos of Hayley wearing that coat at an airport or beside an airplane (at least that's what it looked like to me!).

Thanks Joe and Dave! This certainly seems to be the year for re-discovering the older Hayley performances! I did watch this on TV the day it was on, too. Very glad to be able to say that. Hayley looks gorgeous there. I must say, though, I think what we're hearing is the track from the CD. Don't know that for sure, but it sounds exactly like it, and I don't think I've ever heard a live version of Pure songs where she actually sounds exactly like she does on Pure. It's not the only time this has happened. The Heart Worships music video on Songs of Praise used the CD version, even though she was there live. Anyway, it's not Hayley's fault if that's the case, at least she was there and people heard the song. That's what's important. I believe Matt Simpson (creator of Hayley Online) said he discovered Hayley through seeing her on this parade, and then later Celtic Woman. |

Hi Libby,
I am 99% sure that we established a few years ago that miming to their own prerecorded tracks and/or CDs was mandatory at the time for singers in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade - but I am sure that doesn't matter for short clips such as this. I don't know if that is still the case but I would be surprised if it's been changed.

Hi Paige and Libby,
You are very welcome! It is still true that all of the singing at this parade is lip synched, as was this performance. Hayley did it very well.
I reckon there may have been a handful rare live performances over the years.
Mariah Carey's performance at the parade yesterday was not good...in fact, her miming was easily spotted and was quickly picked up by social media.
