I've just read an interesting review of the past, present and future of the UK's dedicated classical radio station (well it was the classical station) BBC Radio 3. I'm not going to repost it all as it's mostly off topic for this board, just a couple of extracts from the start and end. If you want to read it all, it is at Guardian Unlimited. The cheek of it! Shall we start a boycott? On the other hand, they say that all publicity is good publicity! Cheers, Dave

It might simply be that while The Guardian may think there is 'life in the old dog yet' it recognises that BBC3 IS an 'old dog' and quite simply not up to muster of coping with Hayley. She is after all so highly talented the contrast between her and with the rest of BBC3 might simply prove how old a dog BBC3 really is. After all, I once was a dedicated follower of BBC3. Then along came Classic fm. I don't think I've tuned to BBC3 since!

Hello Peter! Does your HiFi system have a big woofer? If so it must be Radio 3! Best Wishes, Richard

Hello Peter! I think you are just being kind to the Guard - what's it's name, and they don't deserve it!! It was, at the very least, a catty and unecessary remark, but then do they ACTUALLY KNOW who Hayley Westenra is???!! My guess is they picked a name out of the hat and (meowww!) thought "that will do" I have never listened to BBC3 because it was Classic FM that got me listening to classical music in the first place - as for The Guardian, well - nuff said!! Best wishes Grant

Hello Peter! Does your HiFi system have a big woofer? If so it must be Radio 3! Best Wishes, Richard But I am currently having much fun with a friend's four legged woofer! Lovely little fellow but unfortunately hyper-active which means, as a puppy, he is something of a handful and she won't (quite rightly if she can help it) put him on drugs, the usual way of calming such animals down! Regarding the possibility that the mention of Hayley's name was due to inadequate journalism and they simply 'plumped' for a name, might well be right!
Which, back-handed though it may be, shows our lady's prominence in people's minds, even the nonthinking empty-headed ones!
