Hello all! I was randomly searching the list of previous concert dates in the archives on HWI and noticed in January 2007 Hayley performed at the Jones Hall in Houston, TX(USA) with the Houston Symphony. Does anyone have info or pictures from this event? I'm just curious Thanks much, Paige devotedfan

At some random place, I think I read that there was a pops concert which entailed music from the Lord of the Rings. Hayley sang the Elvish parts.
I will search my increasingly recalcitrant mind, but this may be hard to verify. It may have been a comment buried in a You Tube or Amazon thread for example.
I did a little further thinking and may have dredged up one further detail. I think there may have been a series of pop concerts involved in which Hayley participated as the lead in one.

There is a thread about that, here: hwi.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Concert&action=display&thread=901It was for one of Howard Shore's LOTR symphonies, back in 2004. It was in Dallas, not Houston. I read that she sang all the soprano vocals for all the Elvish lines from the LOTR soundtrack. That would include Enya's parts, and maybe Renee Fleming, too. I tried to find youtube videos of this event, but I could only find some from his symphony in Canada, but Hayley was not there. I even tried contacting the Dallas symphony to find out if there had been any recording of this event at all, but I got no response. If there really had been one, I'm sure we would all know about it by now.

Thanks guys!!! Hmmm, I wonder if the recording of 'May It Be' on Prayeris from that performance....? I say this because towards the end of the song -after Hayley finishes singing- there is an orchestral ending. The cd was released in 2007, I believe. ~ Paige devotedfan xxx

Also, to add to the above post, the version of 'May It Be' on Prayer sounds a bit different from the US and Japanese versions of 'May It Be'....also the orchestral ending IS in fact from LOTR

Yes, it's different on Prayer and River of Dreams. RoD has a similar LOTR orchestral ending. So when I put May it Be on my mp3 player, I took the one from Prayer, rather than Odyssey. However, the music probably wasn't taken from Shore's symphony, or the soundtrack. Any orchestra can play it. Since Prayer was a Japanese release, I bet they're the ones who added that part on.

Could be, Libby, could be... But are those different recordings of Hayley voice or is it just that part added as a "Copy and paste"? I really can't tell.

I think it's the same recording, but I think they just added the extra music on. However, I think there is a difference between the orchestral part on Prayer and RoD. It sounds slightly different on each of these albums, but I think the vocal part is the same on all the albums. I was browsing through the media section, and I found an old article that mentioned Hayley's performance with the symphony, and they seemed to think she had done the one in Canada, too. Maybe there was more than one. Let me look at those youtube videos again, and I'll get back to you on that.

The one from Canada I found was from Montreal, and the one Hayley apparently did was from Ottawa. Here's what it says about the one from Montreal: A Compser's Journey Through Middle-earth
From Special DVD part of Return of the King Collector's Box
Recorded in Salle Wilfried-Pelletier, Place of Arts, Montreal, Canada
