Hey everyone,
Just joined the forum. My name is...well...my username, lol, Roman. I'm a member of the forum over at hayleywestenra.forums.umusic.co.uk, been there for almost a year. I'm from Fort Worth, TX, USA. I'm sort of a semi-retired/in the slow process of coming out of retired but really just to keep up the hobby - classical guitarist. I discovered Hayley in June of last year (2009) sort of by dumb luck but a VERY grateful dumb luck. I was browsing around for music to add to the itunes playlist at work and I was sort of looking into christmas music to have on hand for December 09. For a few years I had seen the Celtic Woman christmas videos on youtube but I had never paid attention to the recommended videos that pop off to the side. Well this time I did and I clicked on one titled Scarborough Fair....and that's how it began. Been a fan ever since.

Hi Roman, Welcome. I have a vid of Scarborough Fair on my YouTube channel too. It is one of my personal favourites, although not the most popular of my YT videos, that accolade goes to Ave Maria. Perhaps it is the photograpic inperfections that are the problem, but I love the way Hayley performs this, almost casually, waving and smiling at her friends in the audience including me, yet her performance is brilliant as always. Have a look at www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0zotVShxtAMartin D

I myself have always favored the musical arrangement of this song by David Downes (musical director for Celtic Woman) over the one the Hayley recoreded for her Treasure album. Her vocals are great on both but it's the musical arrangement that made the difference for me.

I agree, David Downes arrangements are really magnificent, I love specially the ones from the A New Journey DVD. Michal

Hi Roman, Welcome to HWI! I love Hayley's rendition of Scarborough Fair too, and I agree that Celtic Woman has better music arrangements! Even for other songs/the other members! Hope you enjoy your time here! Great place to spend some of your semi-retired spare time cheers, Joanne
