Katarina Witt & Friends Appearance

I just managed to obtain a copy of Hayley’s appearance on Katarina Witt & Friends (2005 appearance) from a friend that likes figure skating. I couldn’t find a reference to it anywhere on the HWI forum or website so I assumed it has not been posted yet; someone please correct me if I am wrong.

In my enthusiasm for Hayley I couldn’t wait to share this great performance. But, since I do not have the proper equipment to share it, I apologize for the quality (I have already e-mailed with an offer to send the tape of to the appropriate HWI personnel so this can be properly captured in the case that this hasn’t already been posted). I am posting a few pictures I took of the television screen with my digital camera (sketchy I know, I actually do have a device that captures images from television but conveniently it is at my parent’s house in Oklahoma—I am a few states away at college in Illinois). Below is what Hayley said during a brief interview during the program:

Who Painted the Moon Black? is one of my favorite songs. It really creates a really beautiful atmosphere having them dance, skating on the ice and the song. I’m not sure…it is really hard to describe, but it is a really special atmosphere out there. Really unique for me as well because I have never done anything like this before.

My digital camera takes videos in QuickTime so it is a large file for the short length (sorry I didn’t have time to convert it to WMV, it is around 7 MB). I apologize for the quality (turn your volume up because the sound is low—but not too loud ), but at least it gets the idea of the interview across before a more suitable capture can be posted.

As a final note, I am pretty sure that I reconize that dress from somewhere, but I can't put my finger on it. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks for posting the pictures. Unfortunately I cannot install QuickTime on the computers here in the Internet Café, so I'm hoping Dave might be able to convert the file to WMV, please.

I attempted to convert the Quicktime file to WMV this morning, but I couldn't find a freeware program right off so I gave up. I'll leave that to the professionals.

There is another video of Hayley singing Who Painted the Moon Black? right before this show on a morning show as Katarina skated to it (this one is of a much better quality). It was done to promote this show. I posted the link on the favorite videos thread, but I will repost it here. Here it is:

Hi Katie and thanks very much for posting the screen captures and video - I'll download it and see what I can to to convert it to a more accessible format (especially for you, Richard i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif )

I think you may be right Katie, I cannot recall a video of this performance being posted before and I hope that, one day when you can get at all your video equipment, you will be able to post an even better version of it (though this one may be good, I haven't looked at it yet!)

Just to give you a heads up this version isn't good. I can send a copy of the video off to somebody if they have the equipment to convert into a digital form. I will be able to post better image captures once I get access to my stuff at my parent's house, but I don't anticipate buying equipment to convert the actual video anytime soon. I couldn't really justify the purchase for this one conversion.

Hi Katie, the quality is no problem - something is always better than nothing! Is this a VHS tape, standard US (NTSC) format? Or can you burn it onto a DVD?

Either way I should be able to play and digitise it with the gear that I have (I've done this before, from DVD and from VHS-NTSC tape). If you are willing to post it to me in the UK we can fix up the details by private message... let me know. But if anyone in North America wishes to take on this job, please let us know... quick!

Meanwhile, I converted the short interview clip you recorded from your TV into windows media format, it's now gone down to 700 KB so everyone should be able to play it.Here it is and thanks again for this!

PS, we originally discussed Hayley's "ice cold" promo appearance on the Today show in December 2004, in this thread here but I don't think we ever saw video of the actual Ice show itself that took place early in 2005. Does anyone know different?

Hi Katie!

Thanks for sharing the video clip (and to Dave for converting/resizing it) and the screen captures. I remember watching this (well the one indoor's and the one outdoor's too) on TV and loving it! Of course I was watching it mostly for Hayley, but I didn't mind the skating either.

Hayley looked quite cold in the video from the Today show, but her smile was just fantastic (as always).

It would be great if the whole video could be posted. It's a really great performance by both and I think everyone should get the chance to see it!
