When a Japanese skater, Miki Ando (the most recent World Champion) skated to Gabriel's Oboe, I enjoyed it more than I ever have before. And a lot of skaters have used this music in the past. I wrote to Miki Ando on Twitter, and requested that she skate to Once Upon a Time in the West (by Hayley Westenra, of course! ) for a future program. I also wrote to Olympic gold medalist, Yu-na Kim of South Korea. The reason I chose that song is because they can only have vocals in competition if the the voice is used as an instrument. They can't have any lyrics. And the reason I chose Asian skaters is because the album is about to come out in Japan. I'd contact other skaters, but it makes more sense to do it when they'll have easier access to the album, not send for one all the way in NZ. Is Paradiso being released in Korea or other parts of Asia? Of course, ice dancing allows lyrics in their programs, but the most prominent ice dancers are North American or European, not Asian.

Now to change topics a bit: Recently I saw a tweet by AJ Moore mentioning his new album, and wanting "gigs" to play his new songs at. So, I suggested he play a song at one of Hayley's concert. In doing so, I got a bit of information that might give us a clue about the Paradiso tour. Here's what he said: I then said, well don't they need a guitarist? And he said: So, assuming he has his facts straight, it would seem that Ennio Morricone's orchestra will be playing with Hayley on her tour! And yes, I was hoping for clues when I asked him. I admit it. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

Hi everyone, I have moved the autotune discussion to the Technical Aspects thread, where it fits better, I think. Hopefully both threads still make sense and follow on OK! Cheers, Dave

OK, here is the review I wrote for the "Rate You Music" website
It has been a long wait for a new album from Hayley. The music was composed, arranged, produced and conducted by Ennio Morricone, famous for his film music and now well into his eighties. Hayley is the vocalist that he chose to work with. And what a total mastery of vocal art she displays on this album. The way her voice is used, often as a musical instrument, is pure genius. And what a range of different styles she covers, everything from Christmas carols to Portuguese fado. All performed brilliantly. I know of no other singer on the planet who has the sheer versatility to have recorded this. There are moments of exquisite beauty, moments where you don't realise you are listening to a human voice, and Morricone's gorgeous melodies. It is far and away the best thing that Hayley has ever recorded in my opinion. It is like nothing else I have ever heard, and deserves huge success. Despite the language barrier, and a nearly 60 year age difference, Hayley and Ennio seem made for each other musically. A thoroughly enjoyable album.

Hi MartinD Great job! Nicely written. Looked it up on "Rate Your Music", too. Would love to see that review spread to the maximum. It's so powerfully put, yet not overdone. Perfect! BobS

Great review, Martin! You could put it up on Amazon when it's released in the UK, too.

Hi everyone, There is a new promo clip for Paradiso on Vimeo, which includes a brief snippet of unseen footage - presumably not used in the Whispers in a Dream video. Check it out here: vimeo.com/25089959

That's an interesting find, Jillian! It looks as though that video is aimed at the British market, but it's worth sharing with the world. I'll link to your post on our Facebook page. Richard
