I recently went to a Russell Watson concert and he told the audience that he worked with Ennio Morricone as his producer on his latest album. Sounds like Decca-Morricone package deal then, let's hope it works! Dave

Just reading other posts that mention Morricone's orchestra - that may well be it.

I'd forgotten that, I thought it seemed a strange thing for Decca to do. I hope Russell's release date posted above is right, a very late "Christmas market" release (Nov 29) which hopefully will have little impact on the early sales of Hayley's album, which looks like being released several weeks earlier. Competition in UK classical crossover this Christmas is going to make it horrendously difficult for all of them, an October release for Hayley would be much safer than November, I think. Dave

Hi Nicola
Was that the Russell Watson concert at Sandringham with Camilla Kerslake? If so, I wish I had known you were there as we were too! By the way, you didn't mishear! We also heard and commented on the fact that Russell was with Ennio in Rome recently.
Cheeers,
George

Yep, he told us the very same thing !! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif According to the programme there was supposed to be a duet with Russell and Camilla but it never happened, probably because they're keeping it as a surprise for the album.

I went to the Woburn date - Camilla was also supposed to duet with Russell there but never did.
Since I follow every crossover release (as that's my self-appointed job) only Libera went for the Mother's Day market this year and there has been no major releases since then (before then it was All Angels!). It seems everyone is waiting for the Christmas market again, but I thought they would have learned from last year that they need to bring their albums out a bit earlier. Subo has another album in pipeline. I don't think it will sell as nearly as much as her debut - it may even flop a-la-Paul-Potts but I'd be wary of these reality easy listening singers that take all the Christmas present sales from the crossover pool. They must get the albums out before they do.

Hi Nicola, I read somewhere that of Susan Boyle's new Album, The Gift(?) more than 6 milion copies were Pre Ordered, before she sang or even recorded one song for it!!! Greetz Joyce

Who are these 6 million people? Never heard of the album until just now. It is all media hype of course, put out a story like that and it might come true!! Simon Cowell, the master of spin.
Of course Hayley's album will not even get a mention in the media, unless somebody bites the bullet and spends money to promote her. I doubt a single copy has been sold yet, although I would certainly order it if I could. In the singing stakes, Hayley wipes the floor with Susan (in my opinion of course). I have no doubt this will be a fabulous album by Hayley, but will the people who watch TV even know it exists?
Somebody needs to spread it around that Hayley is a great artist. And unlike some media hype, often for people who can barely sing in tune, for once it is true. If you tell people she is good, they might buy her records. I'm, beginning to think the great British public can't decide for themselves, they have to be told what to buy by Simon Cowell. And that won't be Hayley, there is no profit in that for him.
Don't get me wrong, Susan is a decent singer. But Hayley is an outstanding singer. It is about time the world got to grips with that.
Sorry, its another rant. I'm probably over the top once again.

Dave, how do you know when Hayley's album will be released? I haven't seen any release dates. An article said October, but I remember the release date changes last year with WM. And I seem to remember Hayley saying it would be out "by November". I do hope it's out at a good time when she doesn't have so much competition. You would think she would get higher than them all anyway, but nobody ever seems to pay her the attention she really deserves.

On refledtion Hayley's people might be being very canny here.
In the run uo to Christmas, the usual suspects will be repeasing their new albums. The crossover albums will consist mainly of songs we all know and love, and it will sell records as it does every year.
Mr Cowell will own Saturday night prime time TV in the weeks before Christmas, and will use it mercilessly to promote his artists. This gives his artists a huge advantage over everyone else. There is no chance of out-promoting them with a similar product.
But it seems to me that Hayley might have a different and original product this time. Aimed, I suspect, squarely at the classical market, and something nobody else is doing. That is something that might well work for her, she won't be trying to compete with the mainstream. I live in hope!

... ... Huh? Okay, I guess I've never seen it, and I never will, obviously I realise the appeal of her story, but not much else. 6 million is just crazy. I didn't even know this album existed until I accidently came across it on amazon yesterday. Yes, Martin. Last year, I think it was 16 out of the top 20 albums was related to Cowell's reality in some way, whether they came from it, were promoted on it, featured on it and so on. It's horrendous. The show makes Sony a lot of money though, which keeps the industry alive, but I don't see the point of that if all it is releasing is rubbish of no artistic value. It's best to release albums before the X-Factor live shows dominates.

With that in mind, Nicola, I read on Twitter that Camilla's new album is out in October. Very wise ! She's only been going a year and already has over 3 times as many followers as Hayley. Bedlam and/or Decca are doing something wrong somewhere along the line .......

Dropping by briefly to offer the slightly off-topic observation that in terms of internet notoriety Camilla has ridden the Nick Jonas bandwagon to fame. Amazing what a bunch of little American fangirls can and will do.

Many of Camilla's fans are actually fans of Take That/Gary Barlow. I know of plenty of Camilla fans that have no idea about this type of music, but like her because of Gary. Which is fine by me, as it really does bring the pop audience to crossover. I have to admit that I don't understand your observation, Chantelle. I don't know who Nick Jonas is.
