Hi all, ProBoards have added a new button to each of their forums. By clicking this, the most recent active threads will be listed. We will create a matching button for this new addition soon! Joe edit: done! I used the letters off the existing buttons

Hey, that's a great idea. I think I will find it very useful. The problem with the latest posts button is you have to multithread your mind. This way you don't.

Hi all,
We've changed the wording of our newest button "new topics" to "hot topics". It's a better description I think, as some older threads were mixing in.
Best wishes, Joe

Not sure I understand what "Hot Topics" means. How do you measure the temperature of a topic and what is the cutoff point between "hot" and something else? To me it implies heated argument, which is not always the case.
New Topics is no better of course, since that implies recently created threads.
How about "latest posts" or "new posts" which I think is what it actually is? Well actually it is "threads with new posts" but that won't fit on the button.

Martin D Hello Martin D, "Hot", in this context, refers to "popular" as in the 30 most recent threads containing the most recent posts. You are correct when you say 'threads with new posts' is the function of the new button. ~ Joe

Hello folks! To be strictly correct, the 'Hot Topics' button is a short cut to the thirty threads that have the most recent activity. Unless the forum is extremely busy, it is unlikely there will be new posts in all the threads. Richard
