Hello all I still haven't got myself Odyssey because I'm not sure whether to get the normal or repackaged version. I thought that maybe you could give me a hand in deciding which one is best. Thanks i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBeth x

I would get the original with this picture on: This version: Is a pigeon holed version. If you prefer classical material, then this is the one to get, but the previous version has a more diverse tracklist on it. And in my opinion, better.

If you want it, you may have to take a chance on an Amazon re-seller (new or used), Ebay - or of course a download. Incidentally, both UK versions have sold about the same number of copies, around 100,000 each. Cheers, Dave

Hi Beth,
The first UK release of Odyssey has cataloque number 028947 571575 (barcode), and there are 16 tracks on it. If you want this have a look on Ebay. You also can find the Odyssey New Zealand special edition, 2 cd's with total 18 tracks, on Ebay, seller Cd exports from New Zealand for less than 10 GBP.
Good luck. Greetz and best wishes from the Netherlands, JOYCE

That's the only Odyssey I've ever had. And I love it. I remember the first time I heard it. Like so many of Hayley's albums, it arrived just before a holiday. This time it was a week in Dulverton, on the edge of Exmoor. We had a portable CD player, which plugged into our then campervan's stereo which only had a cassette player. I think we listened to it pretty much continuously on that holiday. It had been a long time since Pure. I still love it, it has stood the test of time. And is probably the most classically oriented of Hayley's albums. I've got used to that original version, and I think a different one would sound wrong now. Even though I have heard the missing tracks and love them. I don't suppose that helps very much.

There are so many versions, there's no way you'll get all the Odyssey songs on 1 CD, unfortunately.

hi everyone,
Wasn't sure exactly where to post my question, but this tread seems as good as any since my question is about different versions of odyssey. I currently have 3 versions on odyssey: Japanese, original uk 'blue' version and the other uk version with brown background. Recently on YouTube I heard a version of What You Never Know which sounds different to all the versions I have, it had a drum and guitar backing rather than piano and cello and I was wondering if this is on a version of odyssey and if so which one?

Hey Susie/Comet, There are two versions of WYNK. The first and most common is called the "Quiet Money Mix," which has has the violin interludes. This version was on almost all releases of Odyssey. The second, rarer version is called the "Sunrise Mix" which is more upbeat & has drums and guitar. A single was set to be released in the UK the same day as the original version of Odyssey, but for reasons unknown, it never was. So, you can only find the Sunrise Mix on some rare promo releases. You can read about it here and here's the cover: (Click for MUCH larger) Or you could get the US release, which also has it. It's here on Amazon.co.uk. You can probably guess which is easier. Not to mention, you also get "You Are Water" as a bonus; AWESOME track. -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

Susie Susie, you need the US version, because you're missing You Are Water! I think that's the only version that has the song. It might be the only one that has I Say Grace, too. [ Edit: The NZ version also has I Say Grace] Also, the version of She Moved through the Fair is different than other versions, too. The US version has the flute version, I guess you'd call it. I've never heard another version, but I'm aware there are others. On second thought, I have the special UK version, and it does have SMTTF, but I haven't listened to it on that CD in years, so now I have no idea which version of the song is on that CD! I'll have to get back to you on that! I think it is absolutely ridiculous to have the same song with different musical backing on different versions of the same CD. It sounds like a case of "I can't decide which sounds better", so they stuck them all on several versions and called it good... except it was not good! You gotta love Decca.

"I Say Grace" is actually on every release except the two UK ones Best wishes Grant

Hi everyone,
I've managed to find a US version on amazon for a good price, I'm glad you all know so much information I quite like the guitar version. You are right Libby Decca are very annoying especially with odyssey, it was the worst one in terms of so many versions and so many great songs scattered around everywhere, I suppose they were trying to appeal to different markets or something.
