Hello Elliot! At least you'll drown with a smile on your face! Richard Ah yes, brings to mind a song lyric (as most things do) The purple sail above me catches all the strength of summer Fishers stop and ask me where I'm bound I Smile and shake my head and say my little ship is sinking But I kind of like the sea that I'm on, and I don't mind if I do drownFrom "Painting Box" by The Incredible String Band. Nah, I don't usually dance to Hayley. Though, Dark Waltz seems to be a lovely song to dance on. But there are a few Hayley songs that get my feet tapping. - Anshita

Thanks for voting in the poll! While the results are mixed, apparently some of us do find dancing to her music a fun activity. I happen to think she should record at least one song in the future with dancing in mind—maybe something upbeat and catchy. Exercise is important, and who better than Hayley to motivate us to get hopping?

maybe something upbeat and catchy. Exercise is important, and who better than Hayley to motivate us to get hopping? That just sounds funny to me. Hopefully she'll sing more that the dance show choreographers will want to choose. Is Beat of your Heart fast enough? Someone suggested it could fit for a rumba. But there's usually only 1 or 2 rumbas per season, unlike waltzes, which seem to get picked more often. They often try to choose songs that are popular, like Lady Gaga for latin dances. And they never choose plain waltz music; that would bore a lot of viewers. Just more popular songs that fit the steps.

Perhaps 'Santa Lucia' is a good song to dance on as well? Don't know what dance style to dance on though...
Cheers, Anshita

But Santa Lucia wasn't on the U.S. version. I doubt very much the American dance show would use anything but songs from her U.S. releases. However, there are some choreographers who are not from the U.S. There's a guy from Australia who does things like Paso Dobles. I think he's also on the Australian version of the show. But the guy who did the waltzes to Dark Waltz and May it Be is Hunter Johnson, from the U.S.

Amazing, ahaha, do you happen to have the links or something? Would love to see how they danced on them! Wouldn't be an easy song to choreograph to I'd say! Cheers, Anshita

There is a thread called Dark Waltz used on American Dance show, and May it Be is in one called Hayley song used on American dance show, in the Media board. The links are in those threads.

Just so you know, Santa Lucia has a 3/4 time signature which means it is a waltz.

Hey, anyone know what dance rhythm Metti Una Sera a Cena has? I was thinking maybe salsa or mambo? I'm just trying to get ideas for songs they could use on the American dance show, So You Think You Can Dance. Metti might be good, because they always like to have a theme or story in their dances. They could be sitting at a table having dinner, and then start dancing, but be sort of distant to or unhappy with each other, or something like that. How about There's a Sparkle in Your Eyes? I was thinking a waltz. There are 2 kinds of waltzes used on the American dance show, the smooth waltz and the Viennese waltz. Or how about a fox trot, or is the song too slow for that? We wouldn't want to use another extra slow song to bore the judges with (which is what happened with May it Be). Some of Hayley's newer songs are beautiful, but kind of slow, even for contemporary routines, but then I thought of the Pas De Deux (sp?), which they've done several times on the show now. I wonder if The Edge of Love or I Knew I Loved You would work for that.

While searching for a decent Dark Waltz video on youtube, to use as one of #MyFavoriteSongsEver on Twitter, I discovered a Japanese Christmas Ballroom party from 2007, and one couple dances to Dark Waltz by Hayley. She has a very pretty dress! www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZ0trOo1nhc&NR=1
