New Zealand virtuoso violinist and composer Fiona Pears and her band play a fiery melting pot of flavours from Latin and jazz, to Celtic and classical, as well as some hot traditional Gypsy favourites.

Fiona Pears started performing as a soloist with orchestras at the age of twelve. Now based in London, she has forged a career as an international soloist and recording artist which has seen her perform at many concert halls around the world as well as recording for EMI and Universal records releases.

Fiona will be performing with her fantastic UK band featuring Ian Tilley on piano and Rob Aitken on guitar.

This concert starts at 12:30pm in the courtyard of St. Bartholomew's Hospital, not in St. Bartholomew's Church. The entrance to the hospital grounds is about 100 yards from the church. The nearest Tube station is Barbican on the Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan Lines.

Hello folks!

I've just returned from St. Bartholomew's Hospital in the City of London, where I met up with Gordon and Grant to watch another excellent performance by Fiona Pears. She was joined by Ian Tilley on keyboard and Rob Aitken on guitar, and she played several of her own compositions together with some well-known standards. Here's the set list:

It was rather windy in the courtyard, but luckily the rain held off and Fiona and the boys gave a brilliant performance that had the sixty-strong crowd enthralled. After the concert we had a chat with Fiona and Ian, then Fiona headed for one of the wards to play for the patients. The three of us adjourned to the Butcher's Hook & Cleaver for a late lunch, which rounded off the proceedings rather nicely.
