Hello everyone,
I am in speculative mood today (well tonight ) because i've just noticed something interesting here at UK Virgin Megastore
Here is what it says, at the moment:
Hayley Westenra
Pure [Slidepack]
OUR PRICE: £7.99
UK DELIVERY: FREE
PRE-ORDER
AVAILABLE FROM 01-01-2020
but also - even more interestingly:
RELEASE DATE: Unconfirmed
LABEL: Universal Classics
CATALOGUE NUMBER: 4769217
So a 2020 release date seems to translate to "unconfirmed".
The label is Universal Classics - and we know that Hayley has never before released an album on that label (Treasure would be the first). I can't recall her releasing a slidepack version either, does anyone know of one?
The catalogue number (4769217) is higher than that for "Treasure" (4758522) but still within a reasonable distance of it - and previously, all Hayley's UK releases and re-releases have had successively higher catalogue numbers. The complete sequence would then be:
4753302 Pure
4756538 Pure Special Edition
4757157 Odyssey
4757683 Odyssey Special Edition
4758522 Treasure
4769217 Pure Slidepack
The main puzzle (apart from no release date) is why there's such a big jump from Treasure to Pure slidepack. Does anyone know if it better fits the catalogue number sequence of somewhere outside the UK?
Is there any other evidence of a possible re-release for Pure? Well yes, I think so. As Hayley now seems to be on the UCJ label, they have recently done exactly this with Katherine Jenkins old album "Premiere" - re-releasing it at a lower price in mid-2006 and in fact, it's sold very well since then. Perhaps they decided to do the same with Pure. Or not
Hmmm... we shall see!
Cheers, Dave
