She is truly gorgeous, but has a beauty that isn't the one established by nowaday canons, but rather the ideal of ancient-style beauty.. Michal Yes, the thought came to me that Hayley is timeless, but I was mostly thinking about her music. She seems to sing music from any era. Her earliest song - I don't know - Corpus Christi Carol comes to mind. She will soon be embarking on a tour based I gather on 1940s music. And I think her music can be listened to in any era too. I'm sure I would have enjoyed it at any time in my life. Martin D

Hey I just had a thought, wouldn't it be cool, if Hayley someday comes across this thread and sees the impact she has made on us? cheers, joanne I think several folk around here, including myself, would find that a whole lot less nerve-wracking than telling it too her in person. its really hard to get a sentence together when your brain isnt thinking

Well, hopefully one day she'll stumble across this inadvertently and be pleasantly surprised! Don't you love Martin D's idea of her timeless music? She'll never go out of style! cheers, Joanne

I see most of the blokes did not answer this one quickly, It deserved some thought, some consideration over time, the male needs time to think things over, to sit on his thinking rock, inside or outside his cave. Funny that it should come at a time when Hayley tweeted this : Maybe some of us on this forum tend to "overdose" on Hayley's music, possibly to the point of obsession, I suppose we are susceptible to certain types of music or vocals at different stages in our lives, Depends on what is going on in our lives, Our mental state, Grieving, falling in love, struggling with the everyday mundane tasks, Those times when we take life for granted, that there will be a tomorrow, that there is a future. It would seem many of the people here were susceptible to Hayley's voice when they first heard it, It would seem that many were at a difficult time in their lives, or for some, everyday is a difficult time in their lives and Hayley's voice helps them make it through the night or day , whichever you fancy. Because Hayley's music makes life better for them, It is a bit like their drug, their chocolate, their comforter, their safe place. It becomes very central in their lives, maybe too much so. I think because of this, we / they feel a NEED, more than just a desire or a whim to thank Hayley in some way, How do you do that ? Modern communications and relative ease of travel makes this possible. Some people register on the forums and often post just one post thanking Hayley for her beautiful music and for the beauty she has brought into their lives and they never post again, You know from their profiles they are not "Internet or computer people". that they have made a significant effort to make that one post and you know that another soul has been deeply touched by Hayley's voice and this is the only way they can think of to thank her for the music. Others will go to even more effort, (Trains and boats and planes they will fly half way round the world, they travel by bus, train and boat to get to one of Hayley's concerts. I know, I have met some of them, more than once, people who don't have or use a computer, people who will never register on the forums, but will go to Hayley's concerts. You know what I mean, If you think the CD listening experience is good, then the concert listening experience is Heavenly. If you are lucky, there is often a signing or "Meet and Greet" ( I detest that expression ) makes it sound like a duty or obligation..which I doubt Hayley sees it as. Then the lucky ones get to meet Hayley, The source of their aural pleasure, This is often when they become speechless, dumbfounded, blithering idiots, but I think Hayley understands they have just come to say THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC..... I was going to write more on this one, but I gotta visit the reli's in hospital..

cheers, joanne I think several folk around here, including myself, would find that a whole lot less nerve-wracking than telling it too her in person. its really hard to get a sentence together when your brain isnt thinking I am pretty sure that Hayley is aware of the impact she has on us - she hints at it ocassionally though she's far too modest to think of herself as the amazing person we think she is. But you are right Spiderman, it can be difficult to get your brain in gear when in her presence. The other thing, of course, is that we tend to have so little time with her and so much we want to say that we often forget the most important things - like thanking her for instance! I made a point at Glasgow last year of doing just that but it took 44 concerts to actually get round to saying those few simple words but I felt very happy that I had done so and I certainly won't leave it so long before I say them again. Best wishes Grant

Hi Grant and everyone,
Yes I know what you mean, I have never managed to thank her face to face either. But I have done so a few times on Twitter, it is easier to think rationally sitting at a computer than when you mind has just been blown by a wonderful performance by Hayley (and they are all wonderful, beleive me).

I guess I just like to be surrounded by her. I have posters of her in every room except the bathroom and several still to be framed. My goodness. I'd call it the "house of Hayley". I think we already know this, but I'm sure you must be the most devoted, obsessed Hayley fan there is. It's not a bad thing to be obsessed, I've been accused of the same thing. I'd go to 50 concerts, too, if I could! I wouldn't put her all over my house though. That seems a little extreme to me, but that's just me.

Oh, Michal and Nicola, I wasn't disagreeing with Nicola that Hayley wasn't her favorite artist, I was just commenting that from what she said, it sounds as if Hayley is a favorite of hers somehow or another. I don't expect every Hayley fan to say that she is their absolute favorite (most do, though), just as long as she supports her by buying her CDs and attends some concerts, that's good enough for me (and Hayley, I'm sure) !

I have thought of this before, but, lol, Grant, ever thought of making a Hayley-museu in your home? :2fun: I am sure that would soon turn a place that every Hayley fan would have to visit one time. How interesting that some of you have so many Cds & posters! I only got 3 CDs and 2 DVDs! That's already quite much for me, cause I barely buy that many Cds from one artist! Mostly I download a few songs from certain singers, some are just not completely worth buying a CD from...
Shows how special Hayley is (to me). No posters of her though....

Hi Libby I'd call it the "house of Hayley". Mmm! Like that, mind if I borrow it? I think we are all a little obsessed here. My excuse is I'm retired; live on my own and have a big house to fill. I've been a "devoted fan" of Hayley for almost five years - hence the large collection. I'm sure your enthusiasm will lead to a live concert and meeting Hayley one day Libby Best wishes Grant

Well, I don't have an posters either. Lots of wallpapers on my computers though. And a home made Pokarekare Ana ringtone on my work mobile phone. I tried putting a Hayley walpaper on my work PC, but it was too distracting and I had to remove it.
I think there are people who think in pictures, and those tha think in sounds and words. I am most definitely in the latter camp, that's why I can't draw or easily understand drawings, and rearely watch TV or films. But most people I think are in the former category. So posters and pictures of Hayley are less important to me than hearing her. That's the theory anyway.

As a mature man that has seen many artists in my lifetime I suppose the best way to answer this question is that Hayley has influenced me more than any artist I have ever seen or heard. Another clue is she has caused me to travel from the U S to the U K and Ireland and drive hundreds of miles in a rented care on the wrong side of the road to see her perform 14 times ,(Would have been 17 but 3 were canceled due to illness), So I guess you can tell I kinda like her.
