Hello everybody! Hayley attended PETA's Humanitarian Awards at the Stella McCartney Store in London on 28th June 2006, and there are a few thumbnail photographs from the event at wireimage.com. Thanks to Miriam on Hayley's official forum for the information. Best Wishes, Richard

Thanks Richard and Miriam, I thought Hayley looked nice in a more casual outfit for a change. Cheers for the post! Steve H

Hello Peter! I didn't know anything about this event until I read Miriam's post on Hayley's official forum this morning, but I wouldn't have gone to it anyway. These events are probably for invited guests only! Richard

Thanks for the information, Raymond! If you narrow the search to 'Hayley Westenra', there are currently 172 photographs from various events, and I'm sure there are some I've never seen before. To view, click here and scroll through the images using the 'Next' button in the top right hand corner. Best Wishes from London, Richard

Hi All, Here is your chance to cast your vote for Hayley for the "World's Sexiest Vegetarian Alive" here : PETA.org. The award in itself is not important at all (Hayley already won it a few years ago, that's why she was at this PETA Award Ceremony) but it's a good opportunity for us to spread Hayley's name around the world. Stephany . The Kiwi actress, soprano and model are among 200 international celebrities listed in the annual poll, run by the activist group PETA [People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals]. ``Everyone knows there's nothing sexier than someone who exudes both passion and compassion,'' says PETA. Previous winners include Alicia Silverstone, Chris Martin, Shania Twain, Tobey Maguire and Natalie Portman. You can vote for your favourite for 2007 at peta.org.
Hi All, Here is your chance to cast your vote for Hayley for the "World's Sexiest Vegetarian" ... Except for one inconvenient truth: Hayley is not a vegetarian (by PETA's strict standards). If she won it would eventually come out that she eats chicken on occasion and the award would be rescinded, much to the chagrin of everyone involved. Then there's the can of worms around the label "sexiest vegetarian" -- entirely appropriate for an exhibitionist like Pamela Anderson but kind of silly if applied to Hayley.

Hi Steve, I agree that your first comment does present an issue. However, there is no PETA type group providing a definition of "sexiness" - which means that the term is completely subjective - as the text of the article provided by Stephany attests. In a more mainstream sense, if you check the commentary on neutral sites like You Tube, you will find that, while it is sometimes expressed in ways which might get you in trouble on a forum like this, she has her share of admirers. On top of that she comes off as almost the definitive type of girl you would like to take home to meet your mother......Some people find understatement to be a virtue. Jon

Further, regarding post 8, if Hayley doesn't meet their standards why did they, who determine th standards, place her name there? Peter S.

Unfortunately Peter, the general stardard for these things is to not check thouroughly until too late - at one point a few years ago Hayley probably did fit their standards, and they are quite likely simply not "hip" the the fact that she has moderated her practice.
Upon further review however, I dont think that winning this would hurt her, seriously even if the award were later rescinded. I doubt seriously that the vast majority of people who buy her records, or might conceivably buy her records would care two whits about her eating habits. Any resulting controversy therefore would be rather easily contained - and she might even come out ahead on the deal because of the resulting publicity.
