Hello everyone Rather surprised by Hayley's comment here, unless she's being super cautious but it seems a very long time from recording to release. However, judging by the tone of her message, Hayley sounds really happy. Best wishes Grant

Yes, I was hoping and expecting the new album would be out a long time before the end of the year. She seems to have slowed down and relaxed a bit this year. Which is good, hopefully this year she won't work herself into the ground.
I'm really looking forward to the new album. I'm sure it will be very very special.
Meanwhile, Twitter is the place to be, as Hayley says.

Sometimes albums take longer than expected, so maybe she's just giving herself plenty of time. Maybe the album could potentially be ready sooner than that, but maybe she wants more time to put some good effort into it. Or maybe her record company is deciding for her when the best time to promote it is. But judging how they did with Winter Magic, I wouldn't trust them on that. Well, some people have thought it could be September; that is before the end of the year!

I see Hayley has said "the year" rather than "this year". Trust me to notice that. Richard

Rather surprised by Hayley's comment here, unless she's being super cautious but it seems a very long time from recording to release. I was also surprised by this comment, for the same reasons as you Grant. All the more since she said: It's strange to plan so much time for the recording and then the release. Because, even if she wants it to be really good, it doesn't take all that time, does it? Remember with Winter Magic, on 28th August, she said she had finished recording. The first version of the album was out on 30th September, which means one month later. Considering that it may have taken around two or three weeks to record her voice, it gives an average of two months, at most three months, to record the album, mastering it and release it. Considering that we are at the end of March, that she hopes to begin recording soon, let's say it begins in one month, normally the album should be out in July at most. So why is she talking about the end of the year? If I make all those calculation, it's not because I cast doubt on what Hayley said or on the efforts they're putting on it, but I'm sooo looking forward to listening to this new album, as we all are! So why so long??!! What do you mean Libby? Juliette

Well, some people have thought it could be September; that is before the end of the year! I think the answer is probably a combination of both. There is nothing worse than saying a date and then putting it back. As it appears Hayley is committed to a series of concerts with the RAF, that we do not yet know the dates for, this may prevent any promotion until September. If that were the case Decca may decide that it should be released to meet the higher sales volume time that occurs in the UK in the run up to Christmas. Also there may be tours in other countrys to arrange as Hayley said it will be an international album Lets hope they get it right this time. I wish it were today. Regards Jim

Hello everyone, I don't think we should try to read too much into Hayley's exact words about possible release dates. That will be decided by Decca and may well be influenced by other things still to be announced or even agreed, and by what they hear when the album has been recorded. Hayley knows this and is just being cautious, " by the end of the year" could mean any time between now and December 31 but of course, it probably means some time in the second half of the year. Probably this year, Richard (though nothing is guaranteed)! Why is it taking longer than her recent albums? Quite simply because it will be a much bigger and more important project and they want to get it right, there could be other complications too. Oh, don't forget everyone, this isn't the Album thread, that can be found here and I've already copied the relevant part of Hayley's message into it. That's where we should mainly be discussing the album. Cheers, Dave

I think it is taking time because all the signs are that it is being built from the ground up. She keeps mentioning that she is writing songs, and that is bound to take longer than just mostly choosing songs around a particular theme, like Winter Magic. I think the longer it takes, there more likely that it is that it will be something stunningly original and groundbreaking.
HSJS2 had six months between most of the recording sessions and release, to fourth quarter 2010 would not be excessive.
