I suppose I am a little puzzled or surprised no one has ever started a thread for one of the most beautiful voices of the 60s and 70s and still recording as far as I know. Gigliola Cinquettimaybe some more of you guys here might like her or get to like her. That voice just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside....ummmmmmmm

Hi Paul, Probably because she's old, the same age as me! [/img] Her performance of Non Ho L'Eta at the end of that clip, then already in her 60s, wasn't at all bad, considering her age! However, turning back the clock 44 years from 2008... The Eurovision winner that started it all. Dave

Just thought I'd mention that the old Gigliola Cinquetti video that I made (on my one-video personal channel) has become the first of my videos to reach 200,000 views. It's beaten all my Hayley videos to that target, aaarghhhhhhhhh!!!!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Utd9cHBPfRAMind you, five of our Hayley videos are rapidly approaching 200,000, and there are plenty of the early Hayley videos posted by other people that are in the millions. :cake: Congratulations Dave. I have probably ticked up a number of those views. I am still hoping for a re release of the 1974 CBS / Sugar album Go before you break my heart on CD. It is one of the very few LPs I have taken the trouble to record onto cd for convenience, I still listen to it quite a bit, even with the snap, crackle, and pop of vinyl, just like a real coal fire it brings back wonderful warm memories of a more carefree time in life

Here's one for you Dave and you just have to sit and enjoy it. I never saw her perform live, probably never will but I have spent many pleasant hours listening to her. My son did a quick job on my telly and I can now access YouTube directly on it, no need to switch on a computer or phone. My first remote control was a bamboo stick with a rubber tip on it to jab at the four station selector buttons or you could turn the volume up and down with it.. Now I can access the World.. gobsmacked. www.youtube.com/c/UnagondolaBlue

This was the one that hooked me on Gigliola Cinquetti, I have never recovered and I don't want to.
Here is Gigliola in 2016 singing Those were the days and still looking great
I'm putting these here so that I can find them again, just look at those eyes

Cheers for that Paul, I shall have a listen! Meanwhile, my video (as you eventually worked out ) has now clocked up nearly 3.5 million views! I could now produce an improved version of it, with a bit of extra film I discovered, but it's probably better to let the original continue to fly, I think. It always gets a boost around Eurovision time of the year! Many of the comments are in foreign languages these days but I do occasionally check for English ones and it's nice to read comments like this one a month ago: Dave

Thanks for the heads-up Paul, I do occasionally see people do these copies like the 2nd. one and if I ask them to replace it by a playlisted version and they refuse, Youtube will usually take them down. The top video is interesting as it's popped up again after I first saw it many years ago, it soon got taken down for some reason. Not before I copied the video though, just in case. I considered re-doing mine, using that one to help fill the gaps, but I'd accumulated so many views by then and it would have taken so long to do a good job with it that I never got round to it. If I ever decide to do it, I would PM the channel owner to ask for agreement and in that case, it would make sense for us both to host the new combined one (still leaving my original up, with a link). Matching the brightness levels between the many short clips would of course be very tricky!

even if you only use it to see the album and seven inch single sleeves and photos, Discogs is a fantastic resource, but you can also use it to buy and sell just like Ebay. ( I am not at all tempted, lead us not into temptation, by all those lovely album sleeves) Try it with other artists you like Hayley Westenra at discogsI see a couple of copies of Walking in the Air on it at the moment, one from Singapore ? Just click on: Marketplace CD and Vinyl button. as always exercise CAUTION when using a buy and sell site.
