Hi everyone,
Yesterday night went to a cooncert of one of the two local classical concert seasons I am on and it was truly incredible, so I thought I would share it with you in case anyone is interested.
It was a piano solo concert, by the russian pianist Alexei Volodin. He has been coming every year to Barcelona since 2005, so, I've seen him few times before and he always did great.
The concert program was entirely formed of pieces by Chopin. The first part, after the bright and short Barcarola in F sharp, was dominjated by the mostly technical 24 preludes, op. 28 with a perfect execution. The second part went on with more emotive pieces like the Three Mazurcas op.op.59 followed by a great performance of the Sonata nº 3 in B minor. And, then, he played 3 encores. After a first one nice, but rather technical, that I didn't know, he played the Brilliant Grand Waltz, and he truly give credit to the name of the piece, with a shining performance that ended up warming everyone up even more.. And then, the third encore was just a crazyness of joy, a genial stunning and highly emotive performance of the Heroic Polonaise, one of the best known by Chopin. After that, there was a highly-deserved standing ovation, the first true one I've seen in my concert-going career.
It was a truly memorable concert, by an admirable pianist. The program said that he would be playing at London this year, so, if anyone likes Classical music, specially piano, it will be highly recomended!
Oh, and , now that I am talking about pianists, these days I discovered a very, very talented French pianist at more or less Hayley's age (sligtly younger). Her name is Lise de la Salle, and here's a video of her great performance of a piece by Bach: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGLCwQjOcDg And if anyone wants more, here are shown some great videos, with the first appearing being a Nocturne by Chopin: www.lisedelasalle.com/eng/lisetv.html
