Hi All,
Having enjoyed another fabulous show by Hayley last week, I'm left deeply disappointed by how sales (or lack of them) of 'Winter Magic' is going.
Who's to blame is not the question. Complaining won't get us far. Moaning on here may make us feel better briefly, but doesn't benefit Hayley. After all, this site is here to support her.
I think we need to do something positive. Think of the Twitter 'Hall of Fame' vote and what we managed.
One idea would be for us to start 'Hayley Westenra:Appreciation Thread' on various popular general music forums. All it would take is for a few members to keep posting on that thread to keep bumping it to the top. It would keep Hayley's name in people's minds.
In the UK, Digital Spy is a large entertainment website with a busy music forum. I think Rhydian has his own appreciation thread somewhere. Also, this site allows posting of links to Youtube. So this may be a starting point if anyone is interested.
Never underestimate what a small number of dedicated people can do!

I'm also up for a bit of Hayley promotion - maybe we can do a better job than her record label and management have done in terms of promoting her music to the millions out there!

Do take care on Digital Spy, I think they they have particular rules for 'Appreciation Threads' particularly in the Big Brother and other Reality TV boards, where there are even official guidelines for them!
It may be better to resurrect one of the old Hayley Westenra threads in the Music board, from a while back - I am sure there are one or two there buried, somewhere!
Don't expect it to get much attention though, most of the traffic for singers is in the reality TV forums (like Rhydian) where, obviously, Hayley doesn't fit.
On a general purpose forum like that, you are liable to get the occasional "can't stand her" or trolling posts as well and there's no way of stopping them as "Appreciation Threads" have no official status outside the Reality TV boards.

I don't see why you would need to add Appreciation to the title.  Every forum I sign up for now, I add a Hayley thread. In fact, there are some where I signed up for just to add it. Of course, I don't sign up for it unless it's something I'm interested in, and I usually don't post very often since I don't have much time, but I do check occasionally to see if there are any responses. I will say that everytime I've received a response, the people have all heard of Hayley before and are fans of hers. I'm disappointed not to have any new fans yet, but at least I've alerted some fans of albums they wouldn't have known about without me! |

Hi Libby, At Digital Spy 'Appreciation' is added because it's their traditional way of naming threads designed to support arttists. Oh, and you did get new fans from your efforts! I'd never heard of Josh Groban until you mentioned him! After so many little mentions from you, I saw his greatest hits in the shops and decided to buy it totally on a whim! I now own every CD/DVD he's released!! Now I'm out spreading the good word!! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif So this sort of stuff can work! |

Something like 'Hayley Westenra: One of the most beautiful voices'...etc. We need to keep the thread in the general music forum. 2. Don't think it's worthwhile to resurrect or start new threads on Aled Jones, J Ansell sites. Pretty sure most traffic on those sites will already know who Hayley is. 3. Don't forget, too, that the number of people who post in a thread is only a tiny fraction of the number of people who READ the thread. Even if you only get responses from people who know who she is, that doesn't mean others won't find themselves intrigued and check her out.
It's one of the curses of internet promotion that you will never, ever, know exactly how successful your efforts are.

What you are really talking about here is an unofficial 'Hayley Westenra Street Team'. Make sure you don't get over-enthusiastic and start spamming, though. SO easy to do and then fans of other musicians will get cross at Hayley and her fans, which is not good...
