Hi All,
The following article featured in 'The Evening Standard' newspaper, on 2nd June, 2005.
I looked on the main site but couldn't seem to locate it under the media scans section.

'I saw my first squirrel in Holland Park. We don't have squirrels in New Zealand so it was a Disney moment for me. Holland Park is definitely the best park you guys have got. It's like a mini retreat. When I was recording near there I would go there for a walk every day and it was so peaceful. I could escape from my stressful, hurried schedule. They haven't over-manicured the gardens either. There's still an element of nature.
My new find this visit is the Thames. It's a 10-minute stroll from the flat I'm renting, though I get lost and have to phone friends for directions. But how lucky Londoners are to have the winding streets and the Thames? We don't have that in New Zealand. We don't have a river that is beautiful and bleak in winter and a golden thread in summer.
And you have the Globe Theatre (020-7401 9919). I went to see Romeo And Juliet there. Brilliant! It's amazing that it's on the same site as the original and that so much care went into reproducing the era. It's the next best thing to time travel.
I gravitate to Covent Garden. It's the buskers. I used to busk. I always pop into Food For Thought (020-7836 9072). There's usually a long queue up the narrow staircase but it's worth it for the stir-fries. The food feels real like the food at Luscious Organic (020-7371 6987) in Kensington. That's my stop for my fruit juice. I keep discovering places. Neal's Yard, the National Portrait Gallery (020-7312 2463), the Underground....
That's London to me. There's something around every corner.
I told you you were lucky.' * Hayley Westenra is in concert with Jose Carreras, Wed 15 Jun, Hampton Court, East Molesey, Surrey (0870 060 1778).
