Hi Nicola,
What I meant was that I vote separately from my work computer amd home, which have different IP addresses. It is regrettable that you have to implement a registration system to overcome this, but if that's what it takes, that is what it takes.
I don't know whether you had thought about resetting it from time to time anyway. If you don't it is possible that one artist could attain an unassailable lead. New artists, that are not in at the start would find it hard to make an impact.
Perhaps you should reset it every week or every month anyway, to keep it current. Then publish a list of the historical "charts", or even a "chart of charts". You would then have a chart for the current period, and an overall one. This would show up how support for artists is changing with time.
Just an idea!

That's a great idea, Martin. It had occurred to me that newer artists had a disadvantage. I was very tempted to reset it today, but since I got Hayley and Rhydian's vote back down, I thought I'd leave it.
There are going to be considerably less votes now, as most people will not be bothered to register (and I don't blame them - it's the last thing I wanted) so we'll see how it goes this week. If the votes are too few, then yes, Hayley, Rhydian and Sarah have too much of a lead for anyone to catch up, and it will need to be reset.

Hi Nicola,
Well, I for one have just registered. You can be assured of my support, I really like what you are doing.
Personally, as I'm sure you know, I would like to see Hayley number one forever. Some bias in her favour that is long overdue, since usually and in most places, it seems to work against her. And I know her fans are probably outnumbered by those of other artists, like Sarah for example, many of whom might never have heard Hayley, because of Hayley's lack of media presence. Think what might happen if Susan Boyle's lot ever got involved. Not that I think they will, I think most are pretty casual, the type that Simon Cowell panders to.
As for Sarah, I enjoy her music too, but for me she doesn't have Hayley's vocal power or control (but probably is at least equal in range). I once did an A/B comparison of Hayley's and Sarah's versions of Scarborough Fair, and for me Hayley won hands down. Try it yourself and tell us what you think.

Hello Martin, I am resetting the votes after all, but the procedure is so complicated that I'm not going to do it often. There's no simple "reset" button. I must prefer Hayley's voice to Sarah's, though Sarah can do the opera voice, as well as the sweet child one, and I do like Sarah's operatic voice - sometimes. As far as Sarah is concerned, I'm a big fan of her beacuse of her artistic vision. She is one of the most creative souls I have come across in music. Only someone that has followed her career closely can understand just how many different things she has done. Susan Boyle is not suitable for my website - thank god. Her album reminds me of a Robson and Jerome album. Same type of songs, etc. Personally, I think the bigger the artist is, the less likely their fanbase will a) find my site b) care about its charts. Sarah got so many votes because I am member of her two bit forums, and I have been there for over seven years, so they have been supporting my website. Other than that, you didn't see Andrea Bocelli and Il Divo getting any votes, eh? XD

Hi Nicola I've also registered and I have to say that I think it's a much fairer system when you have to log in to vote and hopefully will mean that votes actually mean something rather than just getting the better of another artists fans which is really what was happening before. Hayley now has one vote i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest wishes Grant xx

Actually, Grant, she has five votes now.
Nicola, I think Sarah put me off a bit becuase she has sometimes tried to bring sex into the equation. For me, that is something that singers do if they cannot sell their music any other way. Yes, I know Sarah is better than that, but it turns me off nonetheless.

It's perhaps my fault Hayley is no longer no 1. I should be more honest. If Hayley is only worth 5 stars, nobody else is worth more than two, except perhaps Rhydian. And you can't vote zero, so that mwans everyone else either gets one or two. But I gave some of the others four, and really, after last night, none of them deserve it. Of course only Hayley gets five. But I made the mistake of thinking that the next best deserves four, which actually they don't.

Not sure I follow that logic. I rate artists according to how much I like them - then again, be it five stars or two (I scarcely believe an artist deserve just one - they normally have some positive aspect about them). I have never quite understood the concept of liking one artist so much that everyone else pales in comparison. It's nonsense to me; every artist has their strengths and weaknesses? But I wouldn't worry about it, Martin. It's not important, is it? Hayley doesn't need to top any chart, least of all mine. You know where she is placed in your chart!

Hi Nicola,
Yes, you are right of course. I was just trying to highlight the problem I have in adequately expressing the way I feel about Hayley's music, whilst not being unfair to other artists. For example I maintain a list of my favourite albums of all time, and at present only two of the top five are Hayley's. But sometimes I feel that I could easily give all of the top six places to Hayley, especially as soon after seeing her live as now. So part of what I posted is about being blown away by her again at Bath. Some of the others in your chart I have never seen live, although own some of their albums. So it is probably unfair of me to make comparisons on that basis. Sometimes I wonder if I really like classical crossover music, or whether it is just Hayley. Then I remember I enjoy Rhydian, Aled Jones, Faryl, Katherine, Andrea, and several others. But Camilla just makes me wish I was listening to Hayley I'm afraid, which is very unfair of me since she has a good voice and deserves better. But somehow I can't help making the comparison. And that in turn winds me up, so unlike some people I don't find Camilla relaxing.

I've been a bit slack lately. Fortunately I remembered to rate Hayley again this morning. Richard
