Hello everyone,
Absolutely lovely photos, Ross. Like I said, I wish I could have been there, but my circumstances just didn't allow me to.
Did Hayley mention any other NZ concerts for this year? Did she also mention when she was leaving?? I'm always curious about those two things!
Can't wait for more photos/reports.
Dori

Glad you concert-goers enjoyed it musically, the rain must have been an irritant, I've endured (and enjoyed!) a few of them myself in my time but I didn't realize that you ran the risk of that kind of summer weather in the North island of NZ too. Thanks for the reports Belinda and Ross, and your photos Ross, it's good to see that you were able to get the pics! I look forward to hearing more about it when everyone's home and recovered! Cheers, Dave

Thanks for the reports, Belinda and Ross! I wasn't sure about Hayley's hairstyle when I first saw the photographs, but I quite like it now. Best Wishes, Richard

Hi All, Great pics Ross Ross and i decided he would be photographer, A ,cos i still have bad memories of Blenheim didn't need any hassles with camera police B,also having eye trouble again all the lights and the double vision made me feel sick. even with dark glasses I got what i wanted to though to see Hayley well two of her I can feel i'm going to get some sort cold, at least i hope only a cold as it hurts when i breath and I'm already sneezing and have a head ache. Dori, Hayley did not say when exactly but she did say she would be back to tour this year i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifGuess who i was at the airport and on same planes i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Fiona,Ian and two of the band, i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI told them how awesome they had been i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif and we discussed the weather Fiona said her hands had been cold. Fiona and Ian thanked us all for the wedding card she said she had dried it out as the bottom of it had got slightly wet I hope to see them again in Feb at one of their concerts Belinda

Hi everyone
Thanks so much Belinda & Ross for your reports and to the designated photogropher, Ross, for the excellent pics. Oh, its such a shame about the rain and cold, you just wouldnt expect that in NZ and in summer. I hope that you dont come down with anything like a cold Belinda!
You had a great selection of songs though - a real mixture, some of my absolute favourites in there - like 'Never Saw Blue Like That Before' although that perhaps should have been changed to 'Never saw Rain Like This Before'
Looking forward to hearing more about it all and more pics if you have any.
Best wishes (from a surprisingly dry England) Mark

Hi Mark, When Hayley was singing Never saw blue, she seemed to be looking skyward probably thinking should i change it to black. just thought of something Fiona did before they performed togeather she picked her violin strings to the tune of rain drops keep falling on my head hayley laughed and said something about herself being slow on the uptake. There was another bit where hayley had a laugh she mentioned something about water and someone in the audience said something along the lines we already had plenty Belinda

Hey everyone, WOW!! What an amazing concert. Sorry it's taken so long to find a computer.. I'm staying with my cousins in Hamilton at the moment. I'm not sure there is much I can add to the comprehensive reports from both Ross and Belinda - but I'll give it a go. My cousin Phil and I travelled to the concert in a rental car ... Well that hardly does it justice - it was an amazing car - V6 2009 metallic blue Holden Commadore...wow. I won two days free rental. That made the 4 hour drive from Hamilton to Havelock North luxury! The accomodation we stayed at was modest, but what you would expect with backpacker/ hostel pricing. Phil and I made some sandwiches for lunch, and not long after we met Ross by our caravan - who was on his way to go swimming. We had time to kill from 2pm - 5pm so decided to head down the road to the Arataki Honey factory, where we saw a few interesting things in the visitors centre (lol). The rest of the time was spent playing cards. We met Belinda just before we left for the concert. At 5 we drove down to the venue. I was stoked to find out that I had a front row (basically center) seat, but it was wet from the rain.. It was raining for a while when we got there, so we hung out under umbrellas trying to keep dry and kill time before the concert start time (7.30pm). Fiona's first set was really good. Thoroughly enjoyed her energy on stage and her amazing talent on the violin. Her band was also very good, the guitarist played some awesome accoustic solos. Hayley started singing Prayer off stage. The audience quickly silenced. She sounded AMAZING. She walked out on stage. WOW. Throughout the entire first set I was overwhelmed by what I was hearing (Hayleywowed)... It was like I couldn't control my expressions or anything - her voice was affecting me that much. I knew it was going to be much better hearing her live - but I didn't expect it to be quite that powerful! During the half hour interval my cousin and I stayed seated, awaiting the second set. Fiona's second set was on par with the first - very good! My favourite song of hers was "House by the Harbour". She played with so much emotion, and it sounded great. Hayley's second set. Only word that comes to mind is - WOW. I mean comeon... I Know You By Heart, Never Saw Blue and River were AMAZING...as was the rest of the set. But the one song that topped it all off was "I Am A Thousand Winds"....I was really hoping for a song from the Japanese albums - I even tweeted Hayley asking if she would sing one (wonder if she saw that?), and as Ross mentioned I was telling them before the concert that I really wanted to hear one. And I can't think of a better choice than that song!! It was great! THANKS HAYLEY! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifYeah, so I got drenched at the concert..and it was freezing, but it was worth it! I think I may have also made a new Hayley fan - my cousin Phil! His favourite song at the concert was Prayer. After the concert we met up with Belinda and Ross and they said there wasn't going to be a signing because Hayley had likely already left. So we all went back to the accodation in the Holden. When I wen't to bed I thought over the concert... wondered why it had to be over so soon. Come back soon, Hayley!

Also, sorry to disappoint, but I forgot to take my camera (it's at home in Auckland)... So I don't have any photos to add.
It was cool meeting fellow HWI members Belinda and Ross.
A great first Hayley concert experience - despite the weather.

Hi Jono Many thanks for your very enthusiastic report. I had no doubt that Hayley would far exceed your expectations despite the lousy weather! You do realise though, that you are now condemned to suffer the same fate as the rest of us - once caught, Hayleywowedness can only be controlled by exposure to more Hayley, it can never be cured! It's a great feeling though, isn't it? i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBy the way, it's quite possible that Hayley included a Japanese song as a result of your tweet to her, she does listen to what is asked of her and will oblige when she can. Best wishes Grant

Hi everyone You had a great selection of songs though - a real mixture, some of my absolute favourites in there - like 'Never Saw Blue Like That Before' although that perhaps should have been changed to 'Never saw Rain Like This Before' Hi Mark, No, Never Saw Blue is perfectly appropriate. I has often occurred to me that the lyric of that song includes a very good description of what it feels like to be Hayleywowed at a concert. But the rain is there too, as in "I'm so amazed, it's like a dream, it's like a rainbow, it's like the rain" I would like to know the history of that song. Did Jeff Franzel write it just after he first heard Hayley sing I wonder? Actually, I don't think he did, since I think someone else sang it first, but it is a nice thought. Martin D

By the way, it's quite possible that Hayley included a Japanese song as a result of your tweet to her, she does listen to what is asked of her and will oblige when she can. Best wishes Grant Yes, I agree we've seen her respond to things on this forum and elsewhere many times. For example her wearing of the iTunes dress is one such response I think. I remember after the iTunes festival, several people made disparaging comments about that dress, new at that concert, with the result that she didn't perform in it again for around a year. What changed things was that I posted a picture of her from iTunes on this forum, for a totally unrelated reason, and several people here saw the dress and said how much they liked it. The next time Hayley performed, she wore it again, and it has been one of her regulars ever since. I'm sure Hayley values the feedback that we provide, and there are many other examples where Hayley seems to have acted as a result of things posted here. That in turn means we have a responsibility to be careful and honest in what we write, so as not to mislead her. Martin D

Ross, thanks for the photos! Hayley looked lovely as usual. Belinda, glad you talked to Gerald, Jill and Sophie again, hope you don't catch a cold. Jono, thanks for your report and your account of the journey. Good that you won a few days use of the fancy rental car!
Hope you are all safe and dry now ! My first Hayley concert was rainy one!

Hi Belinda, Ross & Jono Glad you enjoyed the concert despite the atrocious weather conditions. Reminds me of Woburn in 2006 and Hampton last year. The things we do to follow Hayley!
Your memories and photos will last forever but I hope you are able to see Hayley again later this year.
Best wishes Martin
