Hi everyone!
I just wanted to share with you what has been an amazing night for me.
Tonight I went to my school awards night where I was aware i had been nominated for a prize in English for achieving the most success, and for perserverance in the subject in my year, which was amazing enough i thought as i really didn't expect to be nominated this year as i wasn't last year- to be honest I didn't think the teachers really noticed me as i'm so quiet!
But I had a huge surprise when i was told i had won a Special Prize called the Bill Pearson Award which is for people who 'achieve outstanding grades and work oustandingly hard for their grades' in dual languages- for me that's French and Spanish...i couldn't have been happier!!!- or more nervous!!!!
I spent ages deciding what to wear for a start...then once i decided i rushed off with my family to the school...where there was canapes and drinks for half an hour, then we all sat down...and then there were several speeches made...then we had to sit and wait for the people from all the other years to receive their awards...then came my first...for English...mine was a joint award where one award was for me and another person for English, I walked out on the stage and was given the award- a cup and a certificate and had to shake my headmasters hand= I was shaking the whole time...it made me think- I'd be rubbish at music or film awards- at least i didn't have to make an acceptance speech.
Then I walked offthe stage then had to have a picture taken of me with the cup and certificate... then I went and sat back down and waited for the rest of the cups to be given for various subjects.
then i was called up for the Bill Pearson Award...it was embarrassing because i was told to walk onto the stage but then the teacher announcing the awards made a speech about how hardworking i am and how hard i worked to acheive my grades in french and spanish...all while I was standing in the middle of the stage trembling!!..then i was given a huge cup which was presented to me so that i could have a picture taken with it then i had to give it back when it had ended because they give it every year to those who win it- they only have one of them but I was also given another cup which i could take home which was a lot bigger than the one i got for English...and a lot heavier... I was terrified of dropping it or falling over as I walked down the steps from the stage and through the middle of the hall where everyone was sitting, all of them watching me
It was a great night and i really enjoyed it apart from the nerves!!!
i also think of it as an early birthday present as it's my birthday tomorrow!!! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif
I'm really happy you've probably gathered that by now
best wishes
