Hi Grant You really have excelled yourself with these final three shots of Hayley. Yes, Hayley is very photogenic and yes, you have a quality camera but wow, these are just superb especially the last one. A professional could not do any better.
Cheers Martin

Hi Grant, I know I had a bit of a preview last night, but those three pictures are absolutely stunning! Especially the last one, one of the finest pictures of Hayley I have ever seen. Have we just seen the winner of next year's HWI photo competition? Martin But Martin, it wouldn't be a competiton if we knew the winner in advance! Martin

From the NZ Herald Friday 23 October. www.nzherald.co.nz/entertainment/news/article.cfm?c_id=1501119&objectid=10604979 Hayley Westenra duets with Dame Vera Lynn (+video) 11:09AM Friday Oct 23, 2009 New Zealand singer Hayley Westenra (R) and Dame Vera Lynn (R) during the launch of the UK's 2009 Poppy Appeal. Photo / APNew Zealand soprano Hayley Westenra yesterday joined forces with Dame Vera Lynn to launch the UK's annual Poppy Appeal. The duo performed Dame Vera's war-time hit We'll Meet Again during a colourful ceremony at London's Horse Guards Parade. The appeal, which aims to raise £31m (NZ$68m), is intended to raise funds for "wounded heroes and bereaved Armed Forces families," said Russell Thompson, the Royal British Legion's Director of National Events and Fundraising. "The past 12 months of bloody conflict have increased the need for our help both today and for years to come," he said. More than 10,000 recent veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan have been given financial assistance by the Legion since 2003. "In order to fund this work we would like this year's Poppy Appeal to equal last year's record total of £31 million," Thompson said. Dame Vera, 92, became famous during the Second World War for her renditions of nostalgic songs like The White Cliffs of Dover and travelled extensively during the conflict, entertaining British troops. Last month she became the oldest living artist to reach number one in the UK charts, with her compilation album We'll Meet Again: The Very Best of Vera Lynn. "My songs were very popular when the boys were away, and now the boys are away again and my songs are popular again," said Dame Vera. "I hope the British public support the Poppy Appeal and for their sake, please wear a poppy." Graeme

Fantastic photographs, Grant! This thread is far better than most of the press articles, which tended to focus their attention on Dame Vera Lynn. I suggest you tweet the link to Hayley, then all her followers will be able to see the photographs too. hwi.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=legion&action=display&thread=5028Best Wishes, Richard

This tweet concerning the Twibbon request to add a poppy to our avatar on Twitter amused me.
Best wishes Grant

Yes, I noticed Katherine had got round to it. Days after I tweeted her with a heavy hint!
Hayley is the true "Forces Sweetheart" now I'm sure. I had a conversation at work with a lady who still thought it was Katherine. This is what media hype does.

Hi everyone.
Superb photographs, Grant, very well done and thank you for them.
I am not sure of what I am writing, I believe it is the International Edition of The Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph. My British/American friend receives it regularly and told me a superb picture of Hayley and Dame Vera was on the front page. Presumably originally appearing in one or other publication here. It must have limited circulation in relation to American potential but on the front page certainly makes a fine statement for Hayley. He's promised me a photocopy. Anyone a regular reader of The Telegraph who can comment?

Hello everyone, I have to confess to being unsure which thread to post this in as the two Poppy Appeal threads seem to cover pretty much the same things... However... Hayley has her photograph in this week's Music Week, including on the front page so I thought I'd post them here, together with some of the text where she had a brief mention (twice) and which I have highlighted in red. Please excuse the adjacent photo of Peter Mandelson... If anyone wishes to read the complete article which is called "Soldiers Songs" you can click on the "black" image below to view or download the complete page, which had to be 500KB in filesize and 1280 pixels wide to be read properly. Music Week - top of the Front Page Music Week - part of page 16 "Soldiers Songs" (click image to see the full article) Cheers, Dave PS it's a nice photo so I thought I'd change my avatar to it...
