Hi everyone, For several years, I intended to visit Christchurch in the county of Dorset to take a few photos for the forum. For one reason or another, I never got around to it... until now! Okay, it was actually about two weeks ago! Tea Rooms in the High Street! [More to follow]

River Avon And finally... The Ducking Stool (1886) Ducking Stool n. historical a chair fastened to the end of a pole or wooden beam, used to plunge offenders into a pond or river as a punishment. You may notice that the stream here is no more than a few inches deep. Anyone accused of some dastardly offence presumably got their feet washed! Roger

Hi Roger Great pictures of, sadly, the only Christchurch I've been too! Brings back interesting memories of trolleybuses and society weddings in the Priory - No, not mine silly! I worked with a chap who knew the organist at Derby Cathedral at that time and he knew the organist at Christchurch ...... spent many happy hours in the organ loft. Did you know that a high percentage of clerics and church organists are also railway enthusiasts? Best wishes Grant (totally off topic, again!)

Hi Roger! Hope you're well! Thank you for those nice pictures. I haven't been to that Christchurch so far but it looks nice. I hope Hayley gives me an opportunity sometime to go there when I come over for a concert. Best wishes, Thomas

Thanks for the pictures, Roger. The cottages look very similar to those in Old Amersham near where I live. Mind you some of the older buidlings are in need of a bit of maintenance! Glad you bumped into Norman Tower. How is he? :je Cheers Martin

Glad you got there in the end. I remember you saying you wanted to visit when we last met in Bournemouth.

Hi everyone and thank you for the favourable comments. Yes Jeff, I had hoped to visit Christchurch on the morning following Hayley's concert in Bournemouth in May but when I woke up to discover it was snowing, I gave up the idea and came home! Hi Sharon, I know I am far too late in saying it but welcome to the forum! I think I had disappeared by the time you registered but I had been here for some time prior to that! Hi Sandy, There are quaint old tea rooms like this in many towns in the UK, especially those around the coast. The building that houses the on in the photograph is over 700 years old! But the cream teas are made freshly on site every day! The building also incorporates a perfumary and gift shop. If I go ther again, I will email you a cream tea! Hi Martin, Norman Tower send his regards but says he is a crumbling wreck due to having stood on the mound for over 900 years. Somebody buy him a cream tea! Actually, you can see part of the Norman Tower just behind the Tea Rooms on the extreme left... Roger
