Here is the full article:- [photos and some text snipped] So there it Hayley is to make her home in London. Let me know if you want the whole article transposed. Best Wishes Steve H (somewhere not that far from London ) Hi Steve, Thanks for that article... if it is somewhere in the forum, or at HWI, I haven't seen it! Great find... if i'm right But why type out all the text? If you keep the 'A4' page widths large enough, we will be able to read the text easily. EDIT: Oh, I see you've fixed it, nice one Steve, and thanks! Cheers, Dave

Hi All, You can't tell me country music is not for Hayley, when she wears western boots like that! (Re: 'Hello Magazine' article) I wonder if Jill and Hayley attended a line-dancing club in London? Regards, Andrew

Hello Andrew! Line-dancing can be dangerous. I tried it in Croydon and got hit by a tram! Richard

It is somehow comforting (from a UK point of view) to know Hayley is buying property in London. However, I doubt if she will be spending more time here than she has done in the past. She is constantly on the road and living out of suitcases and I doubt that will change. In the past she has rented at least three apartments in London. I guess this just means she wont need to any more. Okay chaps, form an orderly queue to go round and cut the grass while she's away! Roger

Well, thank you for that report from Hello magazine Steve. How did you come across it? I guess you have kids? Its certainly not the sort of magazine most of us would think of buying, is it? Unless (as it probably had) a photo or headline on the cover, but then January was a bad month for me and I was somewhat reclusive, so obviously missed it. I would certainly have bought it had I known.
It is a superb article. Text quite readable with patience, thank you Steve, and the pics, well, Hayley herself said about her mum and her that 'we're like sisters really'.
It's a thought I've held for a long time but while unquestionably complimentary about Jill I wouldn't have dared to have said it in front of Hayley! But that picture of them on the stairs, they do look like sisters (because Hayley looks like Hayley and Jill always looks so young, even when next to her daughter!)

Buying a flat in London should also be good news for fans worldwide but especially in Europe as a whole too.
In my response to the Ottawa thread I may have waxed overly lyrical regarding the Commonwealth links and wandered dangerously into the political arena, so I'd like to take this opportunity of affirming my all-nations-embracing global credentials by observing that London is centrally geographical for her.
Its comparatively easy to 'pop over' to most key aspects of the North American continent (and I think she is going to have to continue persevering with getting really established in the States for some time yet) while giving Hayley the options of plane, train or people carrier for all aspects of Europe.
The main motivation, probably, is the recording studios. So, yes, hopefully we in the UK are gong to be well advantaged BUT this is a very even-handed 'all world' girl and I reckon we are all going to gain. After all, London my be her first 'own place', but we all go back to our parents from time to time and NZ is just as geographically well-placed for South-East Asia.
I hope, this double location will give her an economically viable choice for keeping her family either around her for visiting her, or for her to visit them more regularly.
Also, if she plans ahead well enough (and I sometimes think Hayley likes the 'spur of the moment' engagement and is not too happy at being tied down too far ahead in her schedules) she can be more efficient with her travelling in terms of time and stress.
I find the Hello magazine article particularly interesting because in closing my Huddersfield report I concluded that at both Shrewsbury and Huddersfield we saw that little extra magic. I rhetorically asked if it was the season, end of term feelings or 'does she need to have her family move out to her more often, over holiday breaks, to save her the travel hassle?'
I reckon her siblings would enjoy the chance of using London as a 'get to know' Europe opportunity. So perhaps my intuition was right? With Hayley, I always try to be intuitive without being intrusive when i push my assumptions and for a singularly bizarre reason I did not use my time with Hayley after the Huddersfield show to check some of the personal inferences i put into that report, so I have always hoped my intuition was indeed that, intuitive without being intrusive. Above all, that I was getting it right!
Hello magazine's article reassures me that perhaps I did get it right.

I agree (about western boots and country music bieng right for Hayley). And I love the ten gallon hat idea!
I still have my stetson acquired from the film set at Old Tucson nearly forty years ago. Unfortunately it has shrunk somewhat since. NO, the hat shrunk, my head did NOT get bigger! Peter

A gardening job sounds perfect for several of us in here who are retired - or nearly so! The "good news" for me is that things should continue pretty much as they have been for the last two years. That is, Hayley isn't going to abandon London for some other part of the World or return home to NZ for the quiet life (not that I thought she would, I didn't). Indeed, having her own permanent home in or near London will strengthen her ties there, not weaken them. Perhaps this is what Stuart is getting at (welcome, Stuart! ). The news pretty well removes any uncertainty created in our minds by reports last year (without explanation) that Hayley had given up renting her London flat. As we suspected at the time, It looks like it was only *that* flat she'd given up - perhaps she was then expecting to buy a place of her own sooner rather than later. My guess is that Hayley and her advisors are now confident that she can have a successful long term career based in London (Decca HQ) but continuing as before - across the Globe. I don't think she will be putting up all those suitcases for sale on Ebay for a few years yet! Cheers, Dave

Thanks everybody for your comments, in answer to Peter's (Postscript) question, I spotted it on ebay, the listing was as follows:- "HELLO!" MAGAZINE
EXCELLENT CONDITION
JAN 2006 ~~~~~~
HAYLEY WESTENRA
New Zealand's teen songstress tells why she's moved across the world to make London her home. cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7012616479&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1So there it is, I could find no mention on this site of the article, so I had to have it, the suspense from the title was killing me. Its the best ebay purchase I have made this year , excluding the 'Original' Wuthering Heights DVD of course! Steve H
