I'm glad you like Camilla. I think she is sold on me! She can reach an amazing B6. It never occurred to me to ask Hayley. How high can she go? Hi Nicola, We already know this, she reached D#6 while doing some vocal gymnastics on BBC Radio 4 in May/June 2008 - here: hwi.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Miscellaneous&action=display&thread=3761&page=1#71671 Her highest recorded note seems to be a D6 and of course, we don't know if she can do that comfortably, or still. Further discussion about Hayley's highest note should of course be in that Hayley thread I mentioned up there ^ I await the results of Camilla's new release on Monday with interest! Cheers, Dave

Gary Barlow certainly knows a fine voice when he hears it. The wonder is it took him 6 weeks to decide to take it under his wing. I can't tell you how impressed I am with this debut album, but I'll try. Like Hayley, Camilla has the sort of voice that stops you in your tracks and demands to be heard. Even non-musical members of my household stop and look at the TV when the Waitrose ad comes on.
What appeals to me is the lightness of tone. Hers is a voice of delicate almost fragile beauty which sometimes has a plaintive quality which I find most alluring. Like a Greek siren it beckons you to follow, enticing you with its charm. In her promo she appears on a beach and one can well imagine Ms Kerslake sat on a rock, combing her blond locks as her listeners are drawn to their watery doom ! Hearing her sing is like watching a butterfly alight on a flower. Of course the purists at Radio Three will turn up their noses, preferring as they do their weighty operatic divas with their overbearing tones which would flatten the hardiest bloom. (Forgive the flower metaphor, but she was on Titchmarsh !)
Nicola has already reviewed the album so I will not go into great track detail except to say the covers of "Can't help falling in love" and "Closest thing to crazy" are exceedingly well done. "Largo" is a poignant lullaby based on Dvorak's New World Symphony, To pick a favourite track is hard because they are all so good 'but I'd have to go for "Cavatina", three and a half minutes of sheer bliss,a song of unsurpassed beauty. How Camilla holds the high notes is just awesome and she delivers a performance of exquisite beauty.
For the last 6 years only one woman has ever reduced me to tears with the beauty of her singing voice. Now there are two. Great singers do that to you. I don't know how or why. They just do. They have an indefinable power to touch your heart and move your soul. Faced with such an overwhelming assault on your senses and emotions there is nothing you can do. Resistance is futile. Like the sirens' helpless victims you are lured in and caught by their spell. Just like when "Pure" came out I shan't sleep tonight. It's pointless. This woman's voice will just not leave my mind. Nor do I want it to. It will echo through my restless head until eventually in the early hours I shall have to replay the album yet again just to remind myself I'm not going mad and it really is as good as I first thought. This music is balm to the soul. Time and again this album just hits the spot. As the outside world grows ever noisier and more hostile, it takes you to a different place, a place that alone you'd never find. When Camilla sings you feel she's singing to you, and only you. Hers is a voice of utter sublimity which gives me peace and solace. At the end of a long day, this is precisely the album I want to hear.

Jeff, thank you so much for your thoughts on Camilla. I am so happy that you like her so much! It is a beautiful album. I was on a rowdy bus coming back from court, and I just put Camilla on my MP3 player, turned it up, and her voice just took over. It's amazing how pure it is.
I think I will direct Camilla to your response of her album; she'll be chuffed!

I don't know that anyone from America has commented on Camilla yet, but I'll be happy to give my initial assessment (but not most dignified opinion) on her singing: HOLY COWWWWWWWWW! This lady gives new meaning to the word "flawless". Let's see if she can also get edgy -- as Hayley did in Wuthering Heights. Let's see if she's ready for the big time and can conquer entire nations. The instant appeal of her voice might, ironically, limit her success. If she plays it safe and keeps this immense singing talent on familiar territory for too long she won't stand out enough from the other perfect singers already on the scene.

Wow ! Jeff ! I am used to your posts being two or three lines, often about footie, humour or betting. But this is praise indeed, So the review is a BUY ITIt must be exceptionally good to cause such a long report. I have not read, anywhere, a bad report about Camilla, not a bad word by anyone. Maybe Kiri has not heard her yet I may have a look in our local Tesco and see if they stock it..for cash ! Have abused my credit card a bit lately ( I always forget when i pay the biggies with it like motor tax and Insurance online, you just click PAY NOW and it slips completely from the mind) until you get a statement

Yes, its Ian Tilley of course, with Camilla. I am just guessing but am thinking that maybe Ian had something to do with the musical arrangement?? Regards Mark Just tried to read the small print on the album: Bonus CD/Christmas Carols: "All Tracks / Produced by Ian Tilley" "All Tracks / Keyboards by Ian Tilley" and another familiar name (to All Angels followers) "Musical Director & Arranger ... Simon Lole"

Ian Tilley ! No wonder the arrangements are so good ! I forgot to mention this album is especially good value because you get a free bonus CD of carols. I love "In the bleak midwinter." I defy anyone not to like this album !! The delectable Ms Kerslake is easy on the ear and even easier on the eye !! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif[

I don't know her chart position yet, but I know she didn't reach the top 40 in the album chart. I'm disappointed for her. Deserved better - but then, she should have released her album on the 16th have planned. Anyone out buying an album this week would have bought Susan Boyle's. :/
