My favorite French films are "La Gloire De Mon Pere" and "Le Chateau de Mamere" They are also novels, but I prefer the films. Juliette - have you heard of them/seen them? What do you think? <3 Caitlin

Hi everyone! Elliot you're absolutely right on that point! But on the following one, not so much!! Actually, Corsican is France! And even if some Corsican people ask for their indepedence, Corsican is still a french department! I agree it was an italian territory until 1768 but after it became french, and as Napoléon is born in 1769, he's french!! Of course! I will recommend you the ones you are more likely to find outside France: - Amélie Poulain (english name: Amélie)
- Les choristes (english name: The Chorus)
- Deux-Frères (english name: Two Brothers; actually it's a french/english movie but there are many french actors so I don't know if it was recorded in french or in english, I know that the french actors are dubbed themselves but I don't know what is the language of the movie...)
- Un long dimanche de fiançaille (english name: A very long engagement)
- La Môme (english name: La vie en Rose)
- Ensemble, c'est tout (english name: Hunting and Gathering)
I've seen all of them and I enjoyed them a lot. So if you're able to find them, I hope you will enjoy them too! But your teacher is completely right; actually, it's how I learn english. What I do, and it work well for me, is that I watch the movie in original but with french subtitles, because I can still hear the "sound of the language" but I'm able to recognize words or to learn new words thanks to the subtitles but more of that I can understand how the language works (the grammar...). I don't know if it'll work for you... But I'm really happy that you enjoy my language!!!! Caitlin, actually I didn't see them, I didn't even read the books even if the author, Marcel Pagnol, is very very known! Shame on me!! So I can't tell you, I'm sorry! I fixed the list tags - Richard

Juliette... I did say 'doubtful', which is the case. Corsicans would tend to consider themselves Corsican; the Italians would consider them Italian and the French, French. Or am I wrong? So Napoleon's nationality would rather depend on who you ask

Juliette, That's quite alright. I just thought I'd ask! If you do get the chance someday I would say watch them. <3 Caitlin

Well, whisper it soft, Juliette, but the Duke Of Wellington was born in Ireland, so you are not alone is having great generals of the era whose nationality might be claimed by more than one nation

Hi everyone... could anyone help me with some homework I have to do for French, by giving me some ideas in English ...this is what I've got to do: , write in French a short article of 100 words for readers of the magazine Gala -choose a famous actor or actress -"discover" a secret from the press -the reaction of the celebrity this might not be 100% grammatically correct as I translated it directly from French... I've been told to ask around for ideas before writing the article... so if anyone has any ideas I'd be soooooooooo grateful thank you...the pressure for my A-Levels is beginning to get to me a bit, and i'm beginning to feel rather desperate to get this part over and done with...especially following a pretty bad English exam I had this morning- where it took me two hours to get to school on the bus because of the snow, then I fell over twice and could hardly get to the room I had to be in for the exam...then none of my pens would work. ..so all in all I haven't had the best of days thanks for your help in advance... best wishes Sing
