I echo your thoughts Martin. Granparenthood ain't too bad either when they are that age, and it comes without the fog of tiredness because you can usually give them back at the end of the day! Thanks for posting them Joe.

We heard a tiny bit of that song the time that Rose appeared, and Hayley said "good luck to me". LOL
She'll need more than 5 minutes to herself to create an album, not that I've been expecting one. It's now been over 11 years since her last studio album, and all her attempts to make one since then appeared to have failed, or at the very least, put on the back burner (the very, very back burner). And the fact that she said she didn't miss touring tells me she has little motivation to make one, anyway, as albums usually involve tours.
If she does ever want to make an album, I do think she should work on that nasal tendency, though, as I do not care for it, and I believe she is still capable of far better than that; even just those last few lovely notes showed me that. Also, I'm not too excited about the song itself. It is nice to hear her sing something once in a while, but I wouldn't buy an album just for this song, let's put it that way. I thought she was a songwriter these days, anyway, so why not hear her own song? She probably has scores of them that she's written in the last 11 years, and we've only heard, what, 3 of them, and none of them on an album.

Yes Libby I think most of us would agree that Hayley was dropped by her label as Martin said, it was never officially confirmed but it seems likely. Unless she funds an album herself, or her fans do, I see little prospect of getting one. I blame Decca for that. She was badly advised to make "Hushabye", an album that in effect ended her recording career. As you say if she does make an album she needs to tour with it, not easy with a young child. Of course any music she makes now is bound to be light years away from what she was doing 20 years ago. It always was going to be. Like it or not the Classical Crossover genre has been and gone although a few of us still cling to our memories of it ! I share your views about "Everything is free." If her debut album had been full of songs like that I doubt I would have followed her career.

Hi Jeff,
Here I was expecting people to be upset by my comments, regarding the song, and Hushabye, of course. LOL So I'm a bit relieved to see I'm not the only one who feels that way.
I don't recall Martin saying that about her label, although I suppose it wouldn't surprise me... not because of Hayley herself, but Decca, as you say, has not always treated her well. Record companies aren't that great in general. Yes, I did expect her music to be different from 20 years ago, and honestly, some of those type of songs, such as the Water is Wide or The Last Rose of Summer, for example, bore me a bit these days. They are very beautiful, and of course I still love Hayley's voice best for most of them. But I was much younger then, and those types of songs are very nice for young women/girls to listen to, especially those of us who have been involved in music (I sang in choirs in my school/youth group days). That is where my appreciation for Hayley's type of voice came from, from singing myself. I was a soprano, and I grew up in church thinking that that was how women were supposed to sing, in a high, soprano voice, that's the voice you hear the most in a choir, or at least I always noticed that most. Then, I also grew up watching figure skating, and that was where I first heard the song Time to Say Goodbye, so that's how I was introduced to the crossover genre. Andrea and Sarah were the best voices in that genre at that time. Then when the likes of Josh Groban and Charlotte Church came along, I liked them, too. Especially Josh, I first heard of him on some evening special show (I believe it was 20/20 on ABC) and was amazed at how much he sounded like Andrea, but I thought his voice sounded better. Back then, I wasn't so much into the operatic aspect, but I gradually learned to appreciate it over the years, although I will only listen to Sarah or Andrea, and of course I appreciate Pavarotti, as well. Charlotte Church was very nice. When Hayley first came along, Who Painted the Moon Black? was the first song that I heard, which my dad introduced me to, and although I thought it was nice, at that point I was not yet enamored with her voice. I heard a bit of Pokarekare Ana too, but still I preferred Charlotte, since she sang more familiar songs. I'm not defending my point of view, just explaining it LOL Because ever since Odyssey, and Charlotte's Tissues & Issues in comparison, I immediately switched allegiance, and I've never looked back as far as that goes. LOL
But the songs that she wrote that she performed in concert... oh my, the first 2 were performed 8 years ago now!... were very beautiful, and I would have loved an album with those songs. We heard about a song she sang in Taiwan, called Not Alone, and we still have NEVER heard it. How awful! And I remember how much Frank said he enjoyed it. But then at least, we got A Side. Her voice was still incredibly beautiful in that song, and it became deeply emotional only a few months after I first heard it. I haven't listened to it in a while, but I have a feeling that if I did, the beginning music in particular would take me back to that time, and how deeply emotional it all was. The lyrics of Who Painted the Moon Black finally became real to me, too. And of course, Greener Lands. Oh, yes, and Who Will Echo My Heart, the most beautiful of all those songs she wrote. The memory is painful, but also sort of beautiful at the same time, if that makes any sense. I love that Hayley's songs finally had a real impact on my life, which is another reason why it's so disappointing that we may never have a proper recording of any of them. Even if she were to finally make an album, I have to wonder if she would even put those songs on it, now that her heart is healed and she is finally happy (hopefully forever!).
So, anyway, all that to explain why that song she sang the other day just doesn't compare to anything she's ever sung. And that ring she's wearing there wouldn't have qualified for any of my old jewelry polls, why anyone would want to wear an eyeball is beyond me. Clearly I'm not into that sort of thing (yes, I do have an idea what it's supposed to be for) LOL

Hayley posted an Instagram story… In Hayley’s most recent post on our forum, she said Rose was born in September [of 2022], so Rose will (or already has) be celebrating her 2nd birthday! 🎂
