It sounds like a permanent break to me. "Until I have something substantial to say" sounds like never. She is not likely to ever have an album again, and if she does, it's not anytime soon, despite her attempts and getting our hopes up briefly earlier this year. I think she realized how difficult it would be to market herself to the world again. Not to mention balancing that with a new baby. I think maybe she imagined she could be "super-mum" and do both, but I don't think so. I don't really expect her to, and honestly, I am able to live without her music these days, my tastes having moved on to different things, but it's still kind of sad anyhow. I still have all my treasured Hayley memories to fall back on.

The only other "substantial" things I can think of are things she might never tell us, anyway... i.e. a wedding, possibly, and future children. Otherwise, what else would she consider to be substantial? I can't think of anything else.

I think she's right to focus on herself and her family and the finer things of life, and not be dependent on social media for anything. It has its place, but there are so many things more important.

So, I'm pretty sure this is farewell from Hayley. I hope we can still keep the forum, though, just in case.

I think Libby, you have summarised the situation very nicely. In fact my views for some time now. We can only wish Hayley our love and the sincere best luck for the future - she deserves it.

Hayley has posted a new Instagram story about a song she cowrote with another New Zealand artist! I had a listen on Spotify and the lyrics are awesome. I can’t figure out how to post the screenshot without using a third-party site

Thank you for this, Paige!  It is great that Hayley has cowritten a song for an upcoming album by a NZ artist.   This song is out today as a CD single!  Hayley’s Instagram story is below, followed by the artist Delaney Davidson’s post. Last is the music video on YouTube!

Two Instagram stories from Hayley today!  First she warned of a fake account using her info, then she showed us her pretty “done them herself” fingernails!

Yes Joe this is becoming a big problem for celebrities on Instagram. I've had messages from fake accounts. I believe it's called "catfishing." A big clue is the small number of followers. The other day I was messaged by a famous actor. Initially flattering until you think "if it looks too good to be true, it probably is !" Don't be fooled and on no account send them money !! I blocked the account and reported it to Instagram but the scammer just set up a new account using the same photo from the actor's gallery !

Well, in Hayley's absence, Sophie has been posting a lot more on social media than I've ever seen her do. I think partly because she's been back in New Zealand. I'm sure Hayley's absence has nothing to do with it, though. LOL

Well Hayley didn't stay away for long. She's back with a feisty message ! Can't imagine her saying this 20 years ago. Motherhood, lack of sleep etc. She does look tired.

Not 20 years ago, but maybe about 3-4 years ago, she posted a picture of a mug with the same phrase on it. It was soon after she returned to NZ, not long after the 2020 difficulties. I'd say California (or rather the company she kept there) had an influence on her vocabulary.
