From what I can see, I think she looks more like dad than mum. ... And I thought we didn't have a right to see her... oh, well, but I guess if her dad is okay with posting her on his profile pic, then it's okay, after all. By “we don’t have a right to see her,” we shouldn’t expect to see pictures or videos. It’s a privilege if we do. If an image or video is put out on the internet, then that’s more or less fair game. I can hope to see photos, and I really didn't think it was too far in coming, it was just a matter of when, and I was just wondering when it would happen. Yes, I was a little over-eager to see pictures, but I never claimed that I had a right to it, none of us did. Anyway, his profile is private, so maybe those of us (like me) who don't follow him still don't have the right? Idk, what are the rules on that? I haven't requested to follow him exactly because I don't feel I have a "right" to follow him even if it means I could see more of Hayley and daughter. There was a time when I probably would have done so, but right now, I don't feel comfortable with it. Maybe he'd be okay with it, but he doesn't know me, so I don't think I will try. But I'm not going to tell someone else that they shouldn't. I know we technically don't have a "right" to see her daughter, but I just think there are nicer ways to say it. Saying it that way just sounds like, "how dare you express interest in seeing someone's baby, what is wrong with you, you have no right to see it or any business asking". Maybe that's not what you intended, but it's quite easy for someone to take it that way. But there isn't anything wrong with expressing interest or even asking someone for pictures. I think we do have a right to hope or ask, just as Hayley has the right to decline. And clearly Hayley doesn't want us to feel that we're bad for asking. Anyway, it just seemed like a pretty quick turn-around, is all I'm saying.

I am in North Island NZ at present and was in Auckland last Friday, although safely in a hotel, when the storm hit. I have never seen such rain before in my life nor would want to again. I understand that Auckland had 75% of its’ usual summer rainfall in one day. Property damage particularly in north Auckland has been devastating and sadly four people lost their lives. It is good news that Hayley and family are safe and well.

I understand the emergency services on the North Island are bravely rescuing thousands of residents facing landslide dangers. My thoughts turn to the families who are grieving the loss of loved ones.

No wonder it demolished their previous all-time record. For comparison, here in southern England, the record MONTHLY rainfall at my personal weather station, going back over ten years, is 232 mm. Interestingly, that too was very recent - in November 2022 which was a washout month here. Opposite sides of the world. I think I spy a pattern developing here...

A cyclone is due to hit the NZ north island tonight including Auckland. Keep safe to Hayley and family.

As Martin posted above, the east coast of NZ’s North Island is facing Cyclone Gabrielle’s wind and rain. Hayley sends her best wishes to those affected…

Anyway, it just seemed like a pretty quick turn-around, is all I'm saying. For one, the image was his profile pic, which is public. I never tried to follow him because that’s weird. I’m not sure why you often take what I say so personally and then go on the defensive 🤷🏼♀️

Are you taking that personally?
