Nice to see her face this time! Her hair looks very nice, and... oh, did you notice the headphones? I'm hoping they mean something. I wonder what the dolphin/whale and mermaid indicate?

Thanks Joe for capturing the images in a downloadable format, I can't figure out how to find the original .jpeg anymore.

So do you think Hayley's new home is in Auckland? It seems she's buying some furniture/decor, and we know she has her own place, and car, apparently, too!
Maybe the song she was singing in her "office" has something to do with the ocean.

To whom it may concern.
Recently someone complained about the phrase "Dark Angel" but apparently we're all OK about an Instagram post which uses the word "s**t." Right.

Hi Jeff, Since you have an issue with a adult word contained in an image that Hayley shared with her fans, I have replaced the image and blotted out said word. Sorry that I did not read every word in the image, and that it has offended.

Maybe the song she was singing in her "office" has something to do with the ocean. I am hoping for a tidal wave of new music! Let’s hope that Hayley’s recent burst of posts on Instagram will lead to something big! She could be living in Auckland.

I remember Bic Runga used the same word in one of her posts and you deleted it too. I just thought we should be consistent. Interesting that Hayley should post it though. Perhaps an indication of how she is feeling about the state of the world ?

What is this dark angel thing you are referring to? This is new to me. It's the title of Lucy Kay's new album which Andrew felt reflects a negative view of the world. I'm just glad to have a new album to talk about even if it isn't Hayley's. Back in April when Bic Runga said Hayley had composed a batch of new songs I hoped we might hear some of them but it seems yet another year will pass by without a new album from Hayley.

Oh, I see. I don't read that thread, so that's why I missed it. It was actually in March that Bic said that, or at least that's when Hayley's youtube video of that event was posted. Yes, her last album, which I was never crazy about, was almost 8 1/2 years ago!! It's always encouraging to see her making music, but after 7 years of seeing her get our hopes up like this, I tend not to get so excited anymore. It's like yay, she's making/writing music...! But again, this has been going on for over 7 years (unfortunately I no longer have her old instagram posts to refer to, but I still remember a post of hers in early/mid 2014 where she was holding a violin in front of a recording mike, so that's why I say 7 years.

I have to admit that I missed the four letter swear word thing altogether! If I heard my grandkids use that one I'd certainly pick them up on it - but apparently it's widely used among kids at school and it's not hard for them to hear such explicit language in the lyrics of their streamed pop music. There's a famous one I recall from a decade or two ago by Gwen Stefani, Hollaback Girl. It's way beyond the pale to my ears but there is a radio edit that cuts the second half of that very word so she sings "shhhh" and it sounds just ridiculous lol. Best not to have included it in the first place.
In the UK, the TV regulator is called OFCOM and it has a list of offensive words not to be used on TV before certain times of day e.g. 9 pm, or only in specific circumstances. There are several categories and within each, three levels i.e. Mild, Medium and Strong. The s word appears under "General swear words" and is at the Medium level, with 19 worse words appearing at the Strong level. Some of them will make your hair curl lol, so I won't be posting the link!
But this kind of thing is very much a personal judgement in many cases so there will always be differing opinions on the allowability of words outside the "strong" levels, the rest are used so widely these days that it's not always easy to spot them. So I missed it too!

I saw the word, and I'm no fan of such words myself, but it did not seem to be used in a vulgar or obscene way, and is not "cussing" anyone out. That said, going by the way the forum has always automatically edited out such words, it's understandable to pick up on this and wonder why it wasn't erased. I distinctly remember years ago on the no longer existing official forum where I was trying to mention a Japanese city Hayley was going to, probably back in 2008 or so, that resembles the F word, and the forum automatically erased it. I'll test it out here to see what the forum does: Fukuoka Aha! This forum didn't erase it! So now you know, if you didn't already guess. LOL Dave, I agree with you about songs like that, where the original version of the song is explicit, but they have a "clean" version for the radio, or something. Sometimes they just replace the word with something else. The one example that I'm most familiar with is James Blunt's most popular song from 2005 or thereabouts, where the clean version says "...I was flying high...", which in the original version meant he was high on drugs. Or like on dance talent shows where they did hip-hop dances to songs that contained profanity, so they had to cut those parts out, so it would sometimes sound funny with these brief pauses in between lyrics. But usually they seemed to try to choose ones that weren't TOO profane, otherwise the whole dance would be soundless!

Rock fans among you will know "Creep" by Radiohead contains the F word. I'm pleased to say on her cover of the song Lucy Kay changes the lyric to "I'm so very special." Keeps us conservative classical fans happy ! I remember Elton John saying when he released his single "The pregnant dog is back" some American radio stations bleeped out the offending word. The only problem was it occurred so frequently in the chorus all we heard was " I'm a bleep I'm a bleep Oh the bleep is back !"

I see what you mean Libby about the forum automatically erasing words. That's hysterical ! It's just renamed one of Elton's hits !
