I don't think there's much point in speculating on that sort of thing. Also, if your guess is correct, she might as well drop everything and call it quits. Things have been unbearably slow as it is, and that would basically spell the end of it. She barely has a chance to re-sell herself to the music industry now as it is. That would make it practically impossible. It would at least mean another couple of years of waiting! I'm already reaching my breaking point. I mean, if this is all just a hobby now, making music and torturing us with the prospect of an album, then great, have a bunch of kids. But, if she truly intends to have a 2020 album party as she alluded to in her New Year's post, and a tour, we desperately hope, I would say she is still "planning" things carefully, if you know what I mean. Also, how often do we see her that we memorize what she's wearing. LOL her clothes are not that baggy.
It's not impossible, but I don't buy it for a second. None of those things you mention are convincing clues, just wild speculation. And we know how much approval speculation gets on this forum...

I too am getting pessimistic. Things are getting tough for all singers as concerts are cancelled (virus !) and fans unable to travel or use public transport. There is no way I would travel on the tube at the moment. The risk of infection is just too high.

Regarding a child care and work balance, I draw attention to two world leaders. Jacinda Ardern, mum to a daughter of less than two year old, and Boris Johnson, soon to be a Dad.

Point taken, but unfortunately she’s not them. If things can barely get going without a child, think what it’ll be like when she does have one. If nothing else, pregnancy alone would slow down pretty much everything, not to mention the early weeks of a child's life. Not really ideal to be leaving a child that young, OR carting it off 'round the world (if she even does that anymore; if not, then she's good). She could still sing and record, but we don’t want anymore recording, we want the record. We don’t want 50 songs, even just 10 would do at this point. And we want a tour. The whole world will want it. So no, unfortunately it’s not a good idea at the moment. But just think how many kids she could have had between now and the last album! She could have reasonably have had a whole big family by now! Yes, I know, things didn’t work out well enough for that, but it just shows how terribly long we’ve waited with no audible results.

The classical crossover genre has run its course of popularity - it's not 2003 anymore. But I would be extremely surprised if Hayley was interested in that any more - the current image she is cultivating on social media is a world away from that old CC scene. I expect any release will involve a PR campaign about breaking free of the shackles of the classical crossover genre.
I expect that Hayley would be able to successfully release music in New Zealand off the back of her reputation. She'd still be well known there.
The only thing that makes me think there will eventually be a release, is that someone must be funding the recording sessions, photoshoots etc that have gradually occurred over the past years. And will want a return on the investment. The record company and/or investor wouldn't be paying for this just to fund a hobby.
Do we know if Hayley is still with a record company?
Sometimes it's a bit disappointing to think that all the potential that was once there with this music has kind of slowly withered away to nothing. But in this day and age of social networks, YouTube, streaming etc if Hayley wanted to release music and have a platform, she'd do it. So these are her choices and that is that, I suppose.

No, we don’t know if she has a record company. We don’t know much of anything at this point. But I think the consensus is that she doesn’t. Going by that photo of her recording recently, it’s obvious that her intentions are still to make music. It’s basically all she has, all she is, even what her husband is. I do think she’s trying. We’ve brought up the possibility before that she may have some sort of job, because, with no concerts or albums, how does a musician survive? So, if she does, that would certainly slow the process. That reminds me, if one were to have a child, one might need money to pay medical bills, as well as buy all sorts of expensive items. Yeah, probably not within the budget right now. Lol

That's correct. Sometimes I wonder if she has decided to step away from music, but her online postings are dominated by music and her partner is also in the industry. I would expect if she wanted out from music, she would be doing things differently. The lack of any kind of urgency in respect of releasing anything, not doing any shows etc indicates that she must have means to support herself and not need music related income. Hmm. Anyway, that's my check in for a little while. I usually remember every now and then to pop in here and see what is happening.

Marty Whelan has joked with Hayley on occasion about RTE sending her a royalty check every time her music is played on the air, I got the impression you wouldn't be buying much with it.

If she does have a job (or maybe they both do), that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t rather only be a musician. It’s just what’s (probably) necessary. I would say the job would be to help her continue pursuing her career, not replace it. That photo of them next to the Dollar Tree store had me wondering if she works there. At the very least, shopping there, because that store is basically for low-income shoppers. Everything is (approximately) a dollar. She wouldn’t have any experience in anything that pays much or is fun to do. At least she’s a kind enough person to like people, but if she truly works retail, she’ll find out in a hurry how great working for the public really is! 😂

The only thing I would say is that at least in New Zealand, Hayley would be able to do some paid gigs and appearances singing at events and parties. Often the appearance fees of doing those events, even for local acts, is the equivalent of many weeks of pay working as a cashier etc. So the economics of not doing singings appearances to solely work in retail doesn't necessarily make sense. But she can't do that from LA I guess.

Does performing in local bars make money? Maybe that Karaoke Queen shirt meant something, after all...
