Hi everyone! This thread is to encourage and raise awareness of the guitarist/composer Stephen Yates, who is a relatively un-heard-of and underrated guitarist. Stephen was voted 'Guitarist of the Year' in 1998 by Guitarist magazine. He has also performed internationally and has composed in a wide variety of media, including string quartet's! His first solo guitar work, 'The Girl Who Touched The Sky' was inspired by a series of photographs of the Chinese giantess Yao Defen. Through composing this piece, he has tried to emulate the sounds of the Chinese violin and the Chinese zither. The piece is dedicated to Miss Yao Defen of Anhui Province, China. The most striking fact about this album is that it is played on an amplified steel strung guitar, which had never before been associated with classical guitar. His interpretation and emotion on this album is breath-taking - never before has electric guitar sounded so ethereal! Website: www.stephenyatesguitaristcomposer.co.uk/Thanks to anyone who posts! Ben
