What songs do you think are totally overdone? I have a few, but the funny thing is that they are still some of my favorite songs and I STILL like to hear some people sing them, and like to sing them myself! To start off: Amazing Grace Ave Maria Danny Boy Pie Jesu

You Raise Me Up.
Is there anyone who hasn't covered it??!
The original Brian Kennedy & Secret Garden version was excellent. No other version comes close for me.

Angel by Sarah McLaughlin. Of all I've heard hers is the best - it is a VERY hard song to do well.

The only song that ever comes to mind as being overdone has already been named - Amazing Grace. I first learned it at school and thought it was really nice but, since then, I have heard it so many time and by so many singers that I grew tired of it long ago. Now, I almost cringe when yet another version appears.
I can understand why others have mentioned Nessun Dorma and You Raise Me Up but I still really like them, especially YRMU.

My sentiments exactly, Roger, about "Amazing Grace"! To this day I still feel it was the main reason Hayley's career misfired in the States: The decision to use the most done-to-death song imaginable for her American television debut (Good Morning America). I was there in the GMA studio audience and my heart sank when she started to sing that instead of her exotically mesmerising "Pokarekare Ana". Ironically, "Pokarekare Ana" is now bordering on "most overdone", what with all the covers by various artists and with Hayley being obligated to bring it out nearly every concert.
