Gordon and I spent the day touring the New Forest in Hampshire. Here are a few shots I took this morning in Exbury Gardens (near Beaulieu). We were about three eeks too late for the magnificent colours of the azalia for which Exbury is famous so I concentrated on foliage colour and reflections...

Hi Roger & Gordon I like your photos from Exbury Gardens which looks a lot like Savill Gardens near Windsor. It's a pity you didn't have Hayley in one of them and then you could have entered it into the Photography Competition. Best wishes Martin

Hi Roger and all.
Some lovely photographs there. It would seem you made the most of the foliage on a seemingly rather cloudy day. Some lovely picture compositions.

Whilst talking to Roger yesterday we mentioned that this appears to be "a good year for the Roses" in the UK , here are some photographs I took at the weekend in my back garden. You will see from the photographs that I love Roses specially standard Roses These pictures were taken on a Sony Alpha 700 with a 16-105 Sony zoom lens. Steve H

Hi Steve Great close-ups and colours. I wonder if that could ever have been achieved with "old" photographic film rather than digital image? Incidentally, I heard today that Kodak has announced that film is finally going to be discontinued. Martin ps I like your house. Who lives in the great big one next to yours?

Incidentally, I heard today that Kodak has announced that film is finally going to be discontinued.Hello Martin and any photographic film enthusiasts! Panic not, 'tis only the unique Kodachrome slide film that is to be discontinued, it needs a very special process to develop what is a very special slide film but sadly, its days are numbered... Meanwhile, back in digital-land, here are two things i saw in the sky at my local beach Lee-on-the-Solent on 10th of June: An interesting pre-sunset... 8:26 pm. ...and a rescue helicopter coming in to land at HMS Daedalus... at 8:35 pm I first saw the helicopter shortly after taking the sunset photo from a mile down the beach, when it was across the Solent near the Isle of Wight. It was a mad dash in the car to get to the airfield before the helicopter... with a speed camera in between. I won anyway! Cheers, Dave

Hello everyone, I've been out and about again! There have been some spectacular sunsets here this week, caused by a Russian volcano last week but in case you've missed them, here are a couple of shots. And a random "other" shot! Warsash - Wednesday June 24 Lee-on-the-Solent yesterday - 27mm wide angle Lee-on the-Solent yesterday, 15 minutes after the above and zoomed in on the cloud Same as above, zoomed in on the zoom! Busy Bee - my Garden - Wednesday Dave

Amazing photo's Dave. Would be interested in some technical details for your bee picture. Best wishes Grant Thanks Grant and Martin, I haven't been able to get to any recent Hayley concerts for my photo "fix" so I've been trying some different things (though I've always tended to get sucked into sunsets when they are colourful!). The bee was on a blackberry bush that I haven't quite had the heart to cut down, even though it does keep trying to take over the entire garden! The pesky bee was hard to keep in shot and in focus, it took several attempts to get him, always flitting about - but that's what bees do I guess! 50-200mm lens on full zoom (300mm 35mm equivalent) Spot auto focus Distance about 1.2m Evening "early sunset" conditions at 8:08 pm Exposure time: 1/180 F 5.6 ISO 200 Fill-in flash to help freeze the movement. Auto white balance and focus. Cheers, Dave
