I wasn't referring to copyright, I'm just referring to the fact that it has been distributed without Hayley's permission. It is her recording. It's a moral thing, not a legal thing.

I doubt very much if there was a claim to copyright on this recording. I would dearly love to hear it ..... Everything copyright the moment it is recorded. What is "claim to copyright?" If sung by Hayley then Hayley has copyright. Do google of copyright and become an educated comet. Read Wikipedia: In all countries where the Berne Convention standards apply, copyright is automatic, and need not be obtained through official registration with any government office. Once an idea has been reduced to tangible form, for example by securing it in a fixed medium (such as a drawing, sheet music, photograph, a videotape, or a computer file), the copyright holder is entitled to enforce his or her exclusive rights. See, copyright automatic. Maybe Richard right. Maybe this not by Haley at all. Sounds like guinesss book of records rip off. Maybe shopkeepers neice and her freinds pretty good amateur signers but not worth what rogerhammond paid. Sorry.

Thank you for your efforts in furthering my education they are much appreciated.
Very few people "KNOW" any thing anymore, they just look it up on Wiki and "Copy and Paste" it.
We may as well just close down all the schools. We don't need them anymore.

It would be legal to but hayley not going to sue because recording not of her. Does rogerhammond have reciepts? Did rogerhammond pay cash? From a cassette to cd? I do not understand. None of this make any sense. If it is hayley then of course it is illegal. Any recording of anyone distributed without their permission is illegal. Selling this as a recording of hayley is crime by shopkeeper. If it transfered from cassette to cd that crime to.

So they had better just switch off all those security cameras and traffic control cameras too as they are making illegal recordings of buskers and anything else that happens in front of them.
I don't think so.

Phillip,
I find some of your remarks unacceptable. Discuss the item in question by all means, discuss copyright issues in general terms if you wish, but please do not point accusing fingers at the shopkeeper or any other individual unless you have absolute proof that they have committed a crime. In this case, we don't know the origin of the item and so I don't believe any of us have the right to make any sort of judgement.
Although you may not always agree with other member's comments, we do expect you to remain respectful towards them at all times
Roger

Embarrassment. Bad news. I was listening to the CD with a friend yesterday who was emphatic that it was not Hayley. He apparently has another cd that was recorded at that time and we compared them and I could not argue. I took it back to the shop and the manager refunded my money. All is well that end's well, I guess. He took the cd out of circulation and simply told me, apologetically, that he would deal with it. I got the feeling he knew his source personally.
In the end, I'm not really sure what happened, but am glad it's over and that I got my money back. If it truly was not Haley - and I now think it wasn't - then i'm sorry to have excited you. You've been very welcoming. I also think the store manager was innocent here (or some shade of innocent)... regardless, no one else will buy it.
There's a lesson here! Just wanted to let you all know. Thanks for your patience.

Hi Roger, ( Hammond) It did seem almost to good to be true, you did well to get your money back. With all the recent events I am trying to look on the bright-side at things so I suppose we should look at it as one less target for collectors Best Wishes, Graham
