Of course, I had every intention of bidding on an heirloom, where the reserve only starts at $10. But then this happened: www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=206316490I can imagine the surprised seller is VERY happy! And what are they doing selling a treasure like that?!?! Anybody care for another bidding at $200? Dori

Interesting winners Name Anyone we know ? Boy was I lucky when I got mine. Hi Comet, yeah your not wrong there I would strongly recommend putting an insurance on it like total replacement cost to the value of $ ...................? because that was a phenomenal price especially here in NZ. It more than doubled the price of a copy I was bidding for I think it may be a couple of years ago now and if my memory serves me correctly I think it went for $605 NZ, cheers Rodders

I contacted a few of the New Zealand newspapers yesterday to see if they would do a story on the record breaking prices Hayley's early recordings were making on Ebay and TradeMe Any publicity is good publicity It may also encourage more people to put them up on Ebay giving the real fans a chance at buying them.

"Walking in the Air" available on Trademe again. Apparently it is missing the back cover, but the rest of it is in good condition. Starting bid is $500 NZ, and you can buy now for $1000 NZ. Check it out: www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=227719154

Hi Jono This particular copy has been offered twice on Ebay, apparently with no takers. I guess if you're prepared to part with that sort of money for a rare CD, you expect it to be complete. The seller did state that he would include the back cover if he could find it! For something that valuable, I think I would be looking much harder than he obviously has. Best wishes Grant

The auction reached the closing date without receiving any bids. I guess people don't think it's worth that much without the back cover. I can see why you made the mistake though, cause the title of the auction is "cd hayley westenra 1st rare one sold for $1600". Cheers Jono

For you guys who are in the know, is this the real deal? Or a fake?
Is this the only way to get this record? I mean, there was 2 records released exclusively in NZ. Were either of those a re-release of these recordings or different recordings from these. Sorry I can't see the pics on my phone.
Thanks in helping this newbie! Alicia

Hi Alicia,
The two later NZ albums were both professional recordings dome by her record label. This one "WITA" was done by Hayley, aged 12 and her family by hiring a studio themselves. The backing tracks are all "karaoke", ie no actual backing musicians involved in the recordings. None of those recordings are available anywhere else. There were two separate releases of WITA with different covers. The first is very rare indeed, and there were said to be only either 30 or 70 made according to different sources. The second version was a rerelease with the same tracks and 1000 were made. If this is genuine it is one of those. As for being genuine, there is a way to tell I'm told, but you need a photo of the actual disc.

Alicia Hi Alicia Just to add to what Martin has already said. The original WITA was a private studio production funded by a family friend. It has one additional track not included on the 1000 produced for public sale entitled "Part Of My World". I chatted to Hayley about it some years ago and it would seem that the initial press was for 30 copies for family and friends with a further 40 produced later which were sold during Hayley and Sophie's busking period. This batch had a contact telephone number on a sticker on the back. The copy of WITA on TradeMe does look genuine, though the starting bid price seems low. Do bear in mind though that bidding is only open to Australia or New Zealand residents. Cheers Grant
