Great idea!! Here's my rating... with some comments as well! lol.
-----------------
Pokarekare Ana (both versions), 10I've heard Kiri te Kanawa sing this and another young soprano with a lovely voice named, Sara Alto but neither can compare to Hayley's pureness on this song.
It was a perfect song for her, couldn't have been more perfect if it was written for her in fact. This is the song that, in my opinion, really made Hayley big.
And like Charlotte Church's "Pie Jesu" or Celion Dions "My heart will go on," no matter who sings this song in the future, no matter how beautiful their interpretation no one will be able to top Hayley.
Some songs were just meant for people and this one certainly was.
Never Say Goodbye, 10Listening to "Pavane" itself expresses a sadness and Hayley's writers have done an excellent job of bringing it to life in, "Never Say Goodbye."
Hayley of course sings the piece to perfection and hits the high C without any trouble whatsoever or without an opera sound to it.
Its just an amazing piece.
Who Painted the Moon Black, 10This is a very fun song with an almost mainstream pop kind of feel to it. Hayley's pop voice is really good and she sings the lyrics out.
Another really cool thing about this song is although the words are rather sad the tune itself is not to droopy, lol. In fact its quite upbeat and gives me energy.
My Dad liked the song in Joe's pub but cringed at the title, "Who Painted the moon black?" lol.
River of Dreams, 9.9 This is another classical piece that Hayley has brought so beautifully to live by transforming "Winter" to "River of Dreams."
The only thing I have against this piece is that after you've just listened to the upbeat "Who painted the moon black?" its a bit of a let down especially because after Hayley stops singing it goes on forever. A shorter ending would be nice.
Benedictus, 10This is another gorgeous piece and I think it would make a wonderful duet between either a soprano and tenor or baritone or between two sopranos, actually I'm already trying to sell my sister on the idea! lol.
I'll admit when the part "Hosanna" started it nearly knocked me out of my chair! lol.
Hine E Hine, 8This is a lovely Mario melody and seems a perfect lullaby and very, very soothing.
Dark Waltz, 10This is one of the first songs I really REALLY listened to on Hayley's album and the pure beauty really struck me.
The violin and everything and of course Hayley's amazing voice together are just phenomenal.
Amazing Grace, 10I've heard this piece sung by probably hundreds of people. Charlotte Church, Katherine Jenkins... the list could go on and on but Hayley managed to bring a quality to it that no one else has.
Its definitely my favorite version of the song and I love how on the DVD she makes the song even more her own by doing her own thing at the end, as opposed to those high notes Charlotte did.
Either way though, this rendition certainly sticks out from the crowd.
In Trutina, 10I don't actually listen to this song a lot but its very beautiful. The lyrics are the only downfall but since its in Latin (I think) you don't have to hear that which is good.
I remember listening to Charlotte's version and thinking it was beautiful but sounded so dead and what wonders could work for the song if it was livened up a little. Hayley's voice definitely livened it up and with the flutes more prominent, it goes from dead to beautiful.
Beat Of Your Heart, 10This original song has a great to it and I love how it starts out classical sounding and goes into a more pop sounding piece. Fantastic.
Heaven, 10Another original song with absolutely gorgeous lyrics and melody. I think hearing Hayley singing this song live would be wonderful!
Wuthering Heights, 6.5Ah yes, "Wuthering Heights." Well, lol. When I first heard this song I was like, "This is awful!" I'm not used to such beaty music and it sounds so weird! The music video is actually (in my opinion) spooky.
But I've come to like the song and its really catchy, although a little freighting for classical lovers, lol.
