As far as I see 'only' three members there - flotsam, phototeach and I. Well, fingers crossed for the weather. At least the forecast isn't as bad as for Hampton. Hoping for a new song... Cheers, Karsten

Hi all
Sorry, I should have posted a while ago! I will be there, along with Vicki and Beth, we can't wait. We're hoping for some decent weather to make the most of the afternoon and evening. Beth has even made a t-shirt tonight with 'I love Hayley' on it!! It's not a bad effort for an 8 year old!
It will be nice to see you there
All the best
Andy

Hi all,
a bit tired after an 18-hours day including driving on the wrong side, so only shortly the key facts:
Haley arrived quite late after a few accidents on the M6, so there was only time for a short wave from the van.
Song list:
Prayer Scarborough Fair The Water is wide Songbird Raven - Vivaldi-Medley Raven - Gabriel's Oboe Raven - Firedance Mummer's Dance Amazing Grace Shenandoah Danny Boy
Raven - Bolero I Know You By Heart Never Saw Blue Pokarekare Ana River of Dreams Talk To Me Raven - Ashokan Farewell Raven - Hungarian Dance (Brahms) Santa Lucia Both Sides Now Wuthering Heights encore: Hine
Dave told us that Hayley would like to go straight forward to London afterwards, so no chance for a short meet and greet all the day.
By special announcement it was told to us by the owner of Gawsworth Hall that Hayley's management has given in the contract no permission for any photography at all.
Chris, Tim and I had the best seats in the centre of the front row, the lighting was perfect... - but as already said, no permission. It was a bit frustrating, but if Hayley or her management decided to do so, of course we should respect this.
All the best,
Karsten
BTW, the rain came during the concert...

That is a bit unusual, I wonder why. Usually Hayley and her management are quite happy for us to take photographs. It is usually the management of the venue that object.

Hi Karsten,
That's a shame. But on the bright side, I suppose it gave you a chance to fully absorb the concert for once! Perhaps we could paint pictures with words!? :rollin
I've noticed that 'I Know You By Heart' has become a standard in Hayley's set list -- perhaps it will feature on her next album?
Just out of curiosity, how long has it been since Hayley performed 'Across The Universe of Time' live? I like that song...
What dresses did Hayley wear? Anything new? Or shall I guess? How about the red poppy, the black and gold and her short dark blue dress? Let's see if I'm right!

Hi Karsten and everyone Thank you for your early report - the set list is very similar to the RoD tour set list, with "Never say Goodbye" an interesting addition. I've been to two Gawsworth concerts and on both ocassions the owner has made a point of saying 'no photography' although Hayley usually qualifies it to no flash photography. I've noticed that 'I Know You By Heart' has become a standard in Hayley's set list -- perhaps it will feature on her next album? Hi Jillian My favourite Hayley song at the moment and she has been 'told' that she must include it on her next album, so she is aware of our feelings regarding this amazing song. Best wishes Grant

Hi Jillian My favourite Hayley song at the moment and she has been 'told' that she must include it on her next album, so she is aware of our feelings regarding this amazing song. Best wishes Grant Hi Grant and Jillian, ... I was so entranced (for the second time) by Hayley's beautiful rendition of "I Know You By Heart" (made famous by Eva Cassidy) that I mentioned it to Hayley as she was about to board her tour bus.
I let her know that several members had commented that it was for them the highlight of the evening and that it was so good that I thought she really must make sure it's on her next solo CD. I said 'solo' in case she decided to do a duets one with you-know-who! Anyway, Hayley's face lit up and she gave me that "OK, I've got the message!" look while mentioning that her friends had all said the same thing! Suffice it to say that I will be utterly amazed if this gorgeous song fails to appear on one of her CDs soon... Cheers, Dave One thing Hayley cannot be accused of is not listening to feedback from friends and fans and although i wouldn't expect to see it on a Christmas Album, so far... so good! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifCheers, Dave

Hi all, Here are a few additions to my my notes. After an early start with Tom who joined me at Birmingham we intended to go to our hotel in Manchester but due to a slow journey on A roads we decided to go to Gawsworth Hall directly arriving there at about 11 am. The weather was fine (at least compared to the last days) and we had a look at this wonderful manor house chatting with some people including the son of the owner and meeting Chris at around noon at the parking site. To get the best seats we started the queue at half twelve and we've got them as already mentioned in the centre of the first row when the gates were opened at 2 pm. Shortly after Ron and his wife have met us, the delayed van arrived from London - and passed us with Hayley, Raven - without Natalie who've arrived earlier -, Tim and the new guitarist Kevin Glasgow. From the Grandstand we then watched Raven, Tim and Kevin for the first piece of the sound check. The PR manager of the Hall spotted us who have waited for the van behind the house and pointed out that no photography was permitted. The signs said in contrast, no FLASH photography. The friendly lady provided with our names spoke then with Dave and came back with the notice that for this concert photography at all wouldn't be allowed and a special announcement would be given. Just before Hayley's sound check began at roughly 5 pm all the visitors were asked to leave the stand and we used the time for a short dinner, met Andy with his wife and their daughter and had a little chat with the PR manager. The concert was introduced at half seven by a few words of Timothy Richards, the current owner of the Hall, who mentioned that even visitors from Australia, the States, Japan and Germany had found the way to Gawsworth and the announcement re photography. It started in the 'usual' RoD way with the red dress (for Jillian's curiosity ) and Prayer in front of an enthusiastic audience. In the interval I could overhear a few very friendly concerts of regular local concert goers. A little banter in-between: During a song there was a problem with the sound. Hayley reacted quickly and kiddingly that there must be a mouse on stage asking the auditorium to locate it. It transpired eventually that the mike of Rachel's cello had caused the problem whereupon Hayley asked to leave the stage...'Well, wait a minute, we need you for the next song.' The problem was then fixed, of course. For the first part of the second interval Hayley wore a frock I've only seen so far during the singing of the National anthem at Wembley stadium on 10 Aug 2008. 'Talk to Me' with Hayley herself playing the piano was as good or even better as during the both last RoD tour concerts and it's on the best way to become one of my favourites. The last dress was again the usual long black one. In particular the lighting of the garden and the house gave the concert with the incoming darkness a special note and only reluctantly the auditorium let the artists leave into the pouring rain. We met Dave just after the show and he told us that due to some problems with Hayley's voice in the last part of the concert it would be better to go straight to London. So Chris, Tom and I made our way back to the parking site without waiting to avoid any hesitation after a special concert. As already mentioned the setting was very impressive and ideal for taking photographs. It was my first open air where all kind of photography was forbidden and I would have been very pleased to deliver a few pictures having made my way from Cornwall to attend this one (at least from a short meet and greet), but I've mentioned the facts already. Hoping that all things will be all right for Hayley this evening, All the best, Karsten

Hi Karsten Thank you for your very early detailed report. Sounds like another great concert despite the weather and ban on photography which always is the case at Gawsworth.
Hayley always like to get away promptly from there as it is one of her longer journeys home to London ( circa 170 miles, 3 -4 hours).
See you later today!
Best wishes Martin

Hi Karsten Thank you for your most detailed report. From what you say it doesn't appear that seats in the grandstand had been reserved in advance as certainly was the case last time I was at Gawsworth - in fact that's why I don't go any more Worrying to hear that Hayley's voice is causing her problems. I pray that it is nothing serious. Best wishes Grant

Grant, there were a substantial number of seats reserved, that looked too official to have been put there by customers on arrival. Although I arrived with my Parents at 4:15 and we still managed to get seats on the front row, on the right hand side of the Grandstand, with an excellent view. I am sure if you went in future one of us would be there early enough to add a reserved seat for you! We are usually there much earlier, but the weather forecast put us off. I have to agree that i am still really puzzled by the no reserving in advance stance taken by Gawsworth. I can't think of any other venue i go to where this is the case.
The concert was brilliant, I was surprised to hear Hayley was having problems with her voice, that certainly didn't come out during the concert. Although I don't blame her for leaving straight away, the weather was rotten and it is a long drive back to London.
I should also mention that Raven were brilliant, they are very talented musicians in their own right.
I also am surprised by the no Photography rule. Hayley has never had a problem with it before. I must have known, as i didn't take my Camera with me this time!
All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable night, despite the rules and the weather!
edited to add: There were quite a few empty seats, i am sure the last few years it has been a sell out?? I don't know why it wasn't this time, maybe a combination of the weather and it being on a Friday night. Although as Grant mentioned, you have to wonder if the seating policy has anything to do with it?
Mark

Hi Mark Many thanks for your comments and I'm delighted you enjoyed the concert. Last time I went was a couple of years ago. I was right at the front of the queue from about 12.30pm (which I don't mind at all if it ensures a good seat!) but on arriving at the grandstand, there were only a few single seats left on the front row. Certainly the first couple of years were sell outs although I think there were a few empty seats last year. Best wishes Grant

Grant, you must have been behind me... the last 3 years we have managed to get 3 next to each other on the front row! Mark

Glad you all had a good time in a nice setting. Pity there was not a 'meet and greet' but I gather that is usual for the venue. Graham
