Out of interest, are there any male members here in their twenties? Hello Nicola! I'm now in my twenties for the third time. Will that do? Richard

Out of interest, are there any male members here in their twenties? Hi Nicola, Yes, over 30 of our membership are male and in their twenties but many of them haven't logged in for a very long time and the majority are outside the UK. Roger (I can remember being in my 20s... just!)

Oh dear, Richard! You better get away before Roger catches you! I advise you hire some turtles to cart you off. Roger won't stand a chance!
And:
My second review is up.

Aww, I'm sorry. I assumed everyone would click on the link in my signature. I'm presumptious like that. Thanks for linking for Paul I'll do the direct links in the future. There's not much to say on 'My Gift To You' though, so it's a very short review. I am guessing that 'Pure' will be a novel sized review! When you click on the mainsite though, there's a menu going down the right hand side, where you can click on Hayley's name, and all of the posts that I've made on Hayley will pop up.

Thanks Paulo and Nicola I almost never read the signatures except when a new member joins or I see a flash of a design I have not seen before. It's true you see what you want to see only in the places that you look My kids often show me something on the screen and say : "It's right in front of you" :rollin Which planet are men from , Venus or Mars ? I Just ignore the advertisements and the home page mostly

Thanks Paulo and Nicola I almost never read the signatures except when a new member joins or I see a flash of a design I have not seen before. Hi Paul, I followed first the link to "Hayley Westenra" first album review and then searched the blog for WESTENRA tag ... ...and it was then, when I saw your post that I noticed the link on Nicola's signature!!! Best wishes, Paulo Correia

Hi Nicola, From your Review of 'My Gift To You'..... That is one of the things that is so amazing. Together with the tone that is so pleasing to the ear. That is maybe why you are here as well Best Wishes, Graham

Hello Graham, I'm not sure if I understand your post? I *think* you are saying that it is Hayley's flawless technical vocal delivery that is so amazing so perhaps, why am I a little down about the album? Sure, the vocal delivery is good, but that does not make an amazing album. I'll explain: I'm not reviewing Hayley's talent, but the album. Many people in the world can sing songs note perfect, that's why they are singers. For me, an album requires more than somebody that can merely sing, but good quality and diverse material. The arrangement of that material is preferably creative and in sync with the voice of the vocalist. The material itself should be thought of thoroughly and artistically. What is the point of the album? What is the vision? Where is it taking us? What does it mean? As to Hayley's technically perfect delivery, that is all it is: technical. Her vocal performance in 'My Gift To You' is not emotive or telling. It's just a young girl singing songs that she likes. There is nothing artistically amazing about that. It's just a market made album. And I wouldn't expect anything more from a young girl at such an age. Of course, this changes as she makes more albums and becomes more sure of herself, this may be true of 'Treasure' but it certainly does not apply to 'My Gift To You' or her debut. That's how I feel about them, anyway. I apologise if I misunderstood you.

Hi Nicola,
I think that both these reviews are very fair. But when I think of it, most of her best known albums are "little girl" like, and its not really until you get to her West Side Story, and especially HSJS that you see a more adult Hayley (although I think there are pointers towads that in both Oddysey abd Treasure).

I don't find 'Pure' or anything after that 'little girly'. 'Pure' is the first step away from it. She was 17 when she recorded that, wasn't she? 'Pure' is an original album for me. The song selection is not predictable, and she had a solid team of song writers and producers (Sarah Class and George Martin?!) - you don't get that kind of manpower for a little girl album. Granted, she was still young and doesn't sing with much emotion, but the material is far away from her debut.
In any case, I will be writing my 'Pure' review in a few hours (got to walk the dog and other thigns first). So we shall see when I listen to it all through again. The sad thing about the reviews from now on is that it depends on what edition I have. :/
