Hi Dave,
I just downloaded the ITV videos of "Mary Did You Know" and "Do You Hear What I Hear", perhaps I can encode them so you can work on other materials? If everything goes well, I should be able to get the Katherine Jenkins one in couple of hours, will keep you updated.
Not sure whether it's recording or tv signal problem, there's audio clipping/distortion with last few seconds of DYHWIH. I recall there was a bit of talk about audio equipments at a certain location, was it referring to this specific performance? Can anyone confirm?
Happy new year!
Allen

Hi All, I have obtained video coverage of the Norwich Cathedral concert as well as the S4C concert featuring Aled and Hayley via the Katherine forum. That one song Katherine sang in Welsh is Suo Gan Hayley and Aled on S4C Thanks Gerrit, and (John?)... I forgot all about them (I do have them). Next time, I'll try to be a bit quicker on the uptake. Or should that be "upload". i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBut one thing I had absolutely no idea about was that song in Welsh that you mentioned, it sounds like the name of some exotic South Seas meal ! Cheers, Dave

Indeed, 'Suo Gan' is on Charlotte's first album (haven't listened to it for a very long time!) Have I still got it? I dunno!
The first time I ever heard 'Suo Gan', was in 1990, when I first saw Spielberg's Film, 'Empire of the Sun' (1987) based on JG Ballard's novel of the same name. It's about a young English boy called Jim, who struggles to survive under Japanese occupation during World War II. Young Jim, sings 'Suo Gan' and brings tears to the eyes of a ruthless Japanese Army Officer. It features actors such as Nigel Havers. A really excellent film, which I'd recommend- it's been on TV a number of times. Have you seen it?

I've always enjoyed Charlotte's Suo Gan - even more so when she sang it live at a more mature age than when she originally recorded it.
I'm sure it'd be worth hearing it sung by the other singers mentioned, as well. But does anybody ever get the feeling that most of these singers are following each other round in circles singing the same songs? Some of them may be lovely songs, but wouldn't it be nice to hear something new - either some completely new compositions or else some undiscovered stuff.
I don't mean the kind of thing Charlotte's just done, which is too derivative to be new even if the songs themselves are new. I mean good songwriting that really does something with a voice like Charlotte's, or Hayley's, or Katherine's.
There have been some moves towards that, but isn't it about time these talented and skilled singers took their music to new levels by doing something really original with their abilities instead of all covering songs from the same pot?
Is it just me who feels this way?

Thank you for the videos. I am wondering in the video 'Hayley and Aled on S4C', was Aled speaking Welsh?

Hi Raymond,
Yes, that is the Welsh language that Aled is speaking. I regret I don't understand a word of it but it sounds beautiful.

Thanks Gerrit! The video with Hayley and Aled is great. Their voice complement each other perfectly for Pokarekare Ana  Andrew, Empire of the Sun is a classic! I remember watching it when I was in high school english class 6-7 years ago. Now that you mention it, no wonder the song sounds so familiar (yet I couldn't recall the name) Allen

Hi All, This is not related to the Christmas Service in Norwich, but is still relates to just before Christmas... About a week before Christmas, one evening I was enjoying a sherry, sitting comfortably on the sofa, when I "channel hopped" to Channel 4 (I think it was... via 'SKY'). There was a documentary/ Top Ten of the most popular 'ABBA' songs of all time, with the likes of 'Mamma Mia' and other ABBA tribute bands, sharing their thoughts. A second or two later, Hayley appeared on the screen and was interviewed with regard to her favourite ABBA songs... what's more a little while later, she appeared on the programme again, with a fantastic rendition of 'SOS' accompanied by a pianist (as far as I can remember, it wasn't Ian Tilley). Did anyone see that programme/ was anyone organised enough to record the programme? I was totally taken a back and was kicking myself for missing the publicity for that programme... AHH! Please tell me one of you saw it and recorded it! Andrew
