Yes Graham, tonight after playing nothing but HSJS2 for a few days, I heard both Faryl, (which unfortunately starts with a version of Amazing Grace that compares unfavourably to all of Hayley's recordings of that song IMO - it gets better after that) but also played that Japanese interview that includes clips from most of the songs on HSJS1, reminding me what a great album that is. I think only a track by track playoff will make up my mind which of the HSJS albums I like best. I think perhaps HSJS1 has better songs, but HSJS2 has more lavish arrangements and a more mature Hayley.

Listen carefully and you will be amazed. But I tink you need to hear it a few more times, as I did. Hi Martin, Graham and everyone, I agree, I think this is my favourite album, and the more I listen to it the more I like it. I liked it for the first time I heard it (well this isn't entirely true, because until the CD arrive I played the samples available lots of times, and two or three songs available on Youtube). i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI was with some advantage! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest wishes, Paulo Correia

By the way, does anyone know how this album is doing in the Japanese charts this week? I have never been able to make any sense out of that Japanese chart website Oricon!

By the way, does anyone know how this album is doing in the Japanese charts this week? I have never been able to make any sense out of that Japanese chart website Oricon! Martin Hi Martin. Oricon Japanese page below shows that it is16th dated 23/03/2009. www.oricon.co.jp/rank/ja/w/1/more/2/Above is only showing the Special Edition with DVD. I have tried to find English page of Oricon that is equivalent to this page, but there was a no luck. In Japanese characters, Hayley is written "ヘイリー". To see this and others properly, you need to install Japanese Character Set to your Windows PC. I think most of the people here have already installed it. If not, you can do it from Control Panel with Windows CD. The detail is introduced below by a man named Gon. nihongo-ok.blogspot.com/2006/12/windowsxp-how-to-enable-japanese-with.htmlClick the play button. Explanations are in Japanse but the English title can help you 100% to understand. Below is nothing to do with Oricon Chart, but I dare write it here. Hayley will be appearing on NHK-TV next Tuesday. NHK is referred to BBC in UK. It is a public broadcasting station network here and is well watched by many Japanese. Hayley will be watched by many Japanese and her popularity will be increased more, I am sure. She is known here but still not very well known yet. Appearing on TV sure effects the the popularity and I think HSJS2 will be sold more. I am very curious how the Oricon Chart would be affected by this. Speaking of Hayley's popularity, the other day my nephew came to my house and he informed me about his marriage in May. He asked me to attend it and to do some help. I suggested him to use HSJS2 as a background music but he did not know any about Hayley. He brought back HSJS2 and Hayley's other CDs to his home and he is now listening them. I am wondering what will he say listening them. I will be informing you the result. Best wishes. Maya

Hi Paulo.
Yes, I will try to record it. What will be the best way to show it to you and others who are interested in?
To record, I usually use a hard disk recorder and burn it to DVD that can be playable by a regular DVD player. Converting from DVD format to mpg or avi would be better for upload, I think. Youtube will not be my choice and what I am thinking of is to upload to some site where you can access. Does HWI has some good site to upload? The size of the file will vary depending on the quality and the size. Is there any recommendation?
Best wishes. Maya

Hello everyone Hello everyone
Well, I've just listened to HSJS2 for the first time. so it's really too early for me to say much.
Reading through the later posts in this thread, the general consensus seems to be that it is very different to HSJS1 and takes some getting used to. I would have to agree here, as there were tracks on the first album that hit me like a sledge hammer from the very first play, this one didn't.
Having had the single for a couple of weeks now, I'm already familiar with tracks 1 and 10 and of course "Nemunoki" is just heavenly. Other tracks that I think I will particularly like are "To The Future", "A Child Of God" and "Many Times Always".
However, tomorrow may change all that! Thinking about it, the only Hayley albums I have loved from the first instant are "Pure" and HSJS1 and I think that as her style has changed with each album so each time it has seemed like "New Hayley".
Best wishes Grant Well, I'm sorry to say that I have to rescind virtually everything I said about this album last night! Although, after that first run through, I felt unsure about it, as soon as it came off the player, I was wanting to hear it again. This morning, I decided to play it on my 'master' system downstairs whilst I was lovingly creating tonight's liver and bacon casserole. My player is in the lounge, so I turned up the volume (I mean really turned up the volume) opened all the doors and listened. All I can say in my defence is that I must have been listening to a different album last night! Almost immediately this morning I was enveloped in HSJS2 and after hearing it through, I am totally in love with it! Hayley's voice is quite simply awesome/stunning/magnificent - such power - and so different from anything else we've heard from her - and I think that is where my problem lay last night. It is very different and, whereas with HSJS1 there were tracks that shone out for me high above everything else, it is not so with HSJS2. I only realised why that is this morning and, although I still feel that Nemunoki is my favourite track - probably because I've been privileged to hear Hayley sing it live - there wasn't another track that stood out for me, and that's never happened to me before so I automatically assumed that it was the album that was at fault! It wasn't - it was because every track was having the same impact, every track is up there shining out above with each other, and once I cottoned onto that, everything fell into place. I don't think I will ever be able to compare it with it's predecessor - I prefer to let them stand alone for what they are - two very different but two very special works of art. HSJS2 is simply magnificent Hayley, congratulations once again!Love and best wishes Grant P.S. Martin, please don't delay posting your review on my account - I'll look forward to reading it - it may help me to understand why this little round plastic disc is having such a profound affect on me!

Thank you for offering to record Hayley's appearance on NHK TV next week, this is exciting news so I have started a new thread about it and my full reply is here in the new thread (in the HSJS2 sub-board).Cheers, Dave

We have collected our copy from the post office. Everything ok, no customs (even though the parcel was not ticked as gift).
I am going to rip the cd into itunes and start listening to it. The experience seems very promising...
I like this Hayley not so classical-oriented, but I do not dare coll her "pop". In pop songs they don't sing, just half-speak, and Hayley sings, and, oh so beautifully!!! Maybe I am crazy, but when I think of Hayley's future, Barbra Streisandt often comes to my mind.

Hi Grant, I told you so! (I've always wanted to use that icon! Forgive me!) Actually I have to confess there is another reason why I have postponed posting the review, and that is because I try to tackle the difficult question of which HSJS album I prefer. And I honestly can't decide. They are both wonderful but in different ways. The first is more varied, and full of fine melodies, but the second is better produced, and has a more intimate and personal feel, and shows Hayley's continuing progression both as a vocalist and a lyricist. Long may it continue! I have to go to Birmingham Airport tomorrow, and that will give me the chance to listen to the album again in the car. I will try to finalise my review tomorrow evening. Martin

I thought this might be the very place for these pictures Hayley and Jill Dublin 4th Dec 2007 23:33 This is such a charming album and it is hard not to think of these two people when I hear it playing. . . Hayley, Joyce and Jill . Also the Abba song Slipping Through My Fingers comes to mind They are not great photographs, but they are the only ones I've got.

Just look at those smiles. A picture paints a thousand words. . Eugene, Hayley and Jill This has made me look through some photos I have not seen in a while. Bit of a digital Nada Sou Sou moment going on and it has brightened my day.
