Dear all, I shall use this as the main thread when I post news of my soon to be completed Portrait of Hayley, I now have permission from Hayley's management and the research has begun. Thanks to Roger Mansbridge for his invaluable help in the initial contact. All the very best, Roger P. Thomas

Hi Rog,
I had a go at the sites you mentioned. The portrait of Russell Watson is brilliant. I also liked the print of Llangyfelach in Wales.
Your CV is very impressive! I congratulate you on your many contributions to charity.
Best of luck to you, Joe

Hi Rog.
Thanks for your reply. So, on the basis of Katherine's portrait, yours for Hayley will be in aid of bicycles?
That leads me to another thought, guys all, especially Roger, Steve, Richard, Dave etc Hayley's 21st, not that we have to wait until then, perhaps I was wrong when we were talking (post event) about an appropriate present for Hayley's 18th and you guys had not heard from Jill in time, but I said it was right to over-ride her wishes and give her something for her, because of all the good she did to so many. I'm not so sure that lady isn't right. If we want to please her and pleasing her is surely the purpose, why don't we run a continual HWI bicycle fund to which anyone can contribute as they please and when the figure reaches a bicycle or tricycle figure, we send the money in, perhaps painted in HWI blue with our logo on?
There is a problem about collecting money but perhaps amongst us is an indulgent solicitor, or perhaps there could be an HWI account with UNICEF, so people could make donations identifying HWI as the prompt or reason for making the donation?
Just a thought.. That of course means we really must find a bicycle smiley. Tech guys? Peter

Hi Peter I too am in the process of designing a bikeometer as the school where I am head teacher is raising money for the UNICEF appeal and it will be a big motivator if we can show kids how well they are doing. I am thinking of having a big bike with both wheels as large pie charts - one for bicycles and one for tricycles. Were working on £15 for a bike and $25 for a tricycle. Next event is a sponsored times tables across the whole school. Any ideas for other events? Regards Stuart
