Hi Roger, Richard, Grant and everyone! Many thanks for your very interesting comments. I'm just hoping that Hayley's book will get a well-deserved recognition. Oh, by the way, there's a poll related to Hayley on Stuff.co.nz and you should all vote!! The question is: What do you think of 20-year-old Hayley Westenra's biography being released? - Excited. I'll be the first in line to buy it. - She doesn't deserve a biography at only 20. - I hate her music, so why buy her book. - Hayley who? Click here to see the page and vote (there's only one good answer )! Stephany

Hi Stephany I've voted, but it seems most people voting think she's too young at 20! Ah well, what do they know. I bet most people voting won't ever achieve what Hayley's already achieved even if they were given two lifetimes to do it! Love Grant xxx

I would also expect the book to feature in all major Virgin music stores as they have a books section generally.

Hi Stephany,
I have just voted but judging by the results so far it seems that Hayley is not appreciated as much as she should be in her home country.
Don't worry Hayley we think you are the tops!!!

What a ridiculous poll!
I wonder what does 'deserve a biography' mean?
A whole lot of 'somebodies' in NZ must be plain jealous!
Jealousy - 'It is the green-eyed monster that doth mock the meat it feeds on.', somebody wise once wrote.
Tough on them!

Frankly I am a bit critical of the concept - not that it will stop me from eventually picking up the book of course It is simply that when I grew up there were fewer being written, and therefore the subjects of the books tended to be of far more general importance - for example, I read an biography of Winston Churchill when I was about 7.....which then led me to read one about Roosevelt and Stalin. For good or ill, these people did great things - things which truly changed the face of the world in which we now live. Give a singer a 30 year or 50 year career and just maybe they can have a genuine and lasting cultural impact in their own right - but if the standard for biographies is that the subject be "important" at a certain level, I can certainly understand - and to some extent even agree with - that reaction when the book is about someone only 20 years old. I am not intending this as a criticism of Hayley per se, but of the publicity and advertising machine which produces these things. On the face of it, it is a rather strange idea that a 20-year-old (someone like Bill Gates might be an exception) has anything really that important to say to anyone who is a non-fan. For this reason, sales of this type of material tend to come and go very quickly. There is a very good chance that the book will be available at half the cover price or less in six months. I will buy the book because the purchase presumably will contribute to her support. I just have trouble taking it at any level deeper than mere publicity fluff. Jon

Can't remember who told me, but Amazon have an arrangement with Royal Mail that enables new releases to be shipped but generally, not delivered until the release date. What does interest me, is how early they are starting to ship. I hope that translates to a huge advance order book! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest wishes Grant
