Hey guys,
The newsletter I received did mention something about Hayley visiting Melbourne May 1st. Isn't she also due in the United States on May 4th to perform with Celtic Woman? (In California, I believe). Now, I'm sure it wouldn't be the first time, Ms. Hayley's travelled halfway around the world in such a short amount of time. I'm just wanting to get a little clarification here for myself and any other interested fans. Is this the way you all understand her schedule to be? If so, how does she manage such a crazy lifestyle? In one month, she will have travelled to more destinations and through more time zones than most of us ever dream of accomplishing in our lifetime! I can't imagine all that hassle with the different airlines, the security, the lost luggage, the jet lag, etc. I sure hope she's able to recuperate a bit before she wears herself down!
Eric

Eric Her CW tour dates are listed somewhere on this site. I think it's in HERE. As you can see she'll be ridiculously busy in May. The good news is that she's well accustomed to world travel so all the struggles with luggage and jet lag you mention won't faze her the way they would a novice.

Hi everyone, In the newsletter, they talk about a "Treasure" video Medley.
I clicked and it launched my video player but nothing came up. Anyone had similar problems?!

Hello Stephany! I couldn't play the new video medley either, so I've given up at the moment. Eric and Steve, the best place to look for Hayley's up-to-date concerts schedule is HERE. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest Wishes, Richard

Anyway, they said it would be available on Itunes soon so I'll check it out from time to time.

Thanks for the advice, Stephany! I find RealPlayer has a nasty habit of crashing the computers here in the Internet Café, so I'll try it some other time when I'm feeling adventurous! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest Wishes, Richard

Eric You raise an issue which is of major concern to many of us, EricD. As a consequence (rare, so far fortunately) there have been occasions when it clearly HAS taken its toll. Mercifully, in so far as I am aware, she is so much loved for herself she has been easily forgiven. It is some years now since I worked for a major international company, so I cannot now remember the details, but there were clear company DIRECTIVES, not guidelines, that senior executives were specifically PROHIBITED from attending meetings of certain seniority and in particular signing contracts unless a certain number of hours had passed between their departure from, to their arrival at that particular location. These hours were calculated according to the number of time zones they passed through. these directives were SOLELY to do with exhaustion and the jet lag effect on mental processes, which were recognised at causing mental disassociation/confusion. Nor were these directives taking into account the effect of air-conditioning etc on the voice! Whose fault is it that Hayley sometimes pusshes herself (or is pushed!) beyond sound management sense? I think you raise an interesting point. tHE the time-zone effect might have been innocently overlooked in terms of local time arrival and performance expectation, in relation to the actual physical day that she will have experienced in transit. Therefore, the disruption to her sleep pattern and her body's ability to recuperate have been drastically under-estimated. If so, it is something that needs to be put right, FAST, Peter S.

... these directives were SOLELY to do with exhaustion and the jet lag effect on mental processes, which were recognised at causing mental disassociation/confusion... Whose fault is it that Hayley sometimes pusshes herself (or is pushed!) beyond sound management sense? Hi Peter and everyone, I'd just like to add a couple of things to this discussion: 1. I asked Hayley not long ago about the effects of jet lag when she goes home to NZ sometimes for a week or less and then flies back , as she will do this month. I expected her to say how hard it was to adjust but no, she shrugged it off and said in a completely matter-of-fact way that it wasn't a problem for her. She looked at me slightly puzzled, as if to say: why, should it be a problem? 2. The concerts and appearances are the way Hayley earns her living - unlike some other top recording artists who can live comfortably from the income off their CD sales. Hayley does not (yet, I think) have that luxury so her hectic concert and appearances schedule is for herself. In general, she will not be doing it at someone else's behest as an employee or in a long-term contract, so workplace Health and Safely legislation is unlikely to apply except for public building regulations in the actual concert venues. I am sure Hayley has taken advice about the extent of her workload and I suspect that she knows exactly what she is doing and in a way that will not lead to burn-out. Certainly, she will know why she is doing it - and good luck to her, I say. When I was young, I could do some pretty amazing things in terms of flexibility and endurance especially when I was having fun (as Hayley seems to be!) and I'm sure that many of you guys could too. It is easy to forget this as we get older... There may be occasional mis-calculations (people get ill, planes are late) but overall, I don't think we need to be too concerned about this. Now, how to get back on topic? Where's Richard when you need him? Cheers, Dave

In your reply 56, Dave, I think you raise a good point about forgetting what one used to do as a young person 'as a matter of fact' and of course, Dave, you have it from the lady herself (I will not refer to Hayley as the horse's mouth! (despite Newmarket!)).
There is such a thing as natural adrenalin, this is particularly noted amongst 'aged' politicians when they've just won the General Election--they manage to keep going through the night and then form a government the next day most matter-of-factly.
However, major international firms do not treat their high-flying executives with kid gloves--they demand performance for flying first-class. Under the NZ post I had intended to advise that my friends' recent NZ trip (slightly younger than am I) required three days of adjustment due to jet-lag in each direction.
My viewpoint may be slightly jaundiced by my situation for two reasons. Anno Domini adds forty-four years to Hayley's newly acquired 20--you're no longer a teenager kid! Even at fifty-five I was accustomed to juggling half-a-dozen balls in the air as a matter of course, as I had been doing all my life and several of these were in the public arena (local political, not entertainment). Then, wham! Having eased back as I recognised Anno Domini one thing I could not control entered my otherwise 'balanced' life and I went down with shingles two years ago, from which consequential damage I am still recovering. You do not realise you have overloaded yourself until you have overloaded yourself, by which time it is too late!
However, youth is a blessing for many things and has much leeway. She is grabbing her opportunities as she may and that is when to make hay--when the sun is shining. Long may it shine over her and her endeavours but that doesn't mean you don't make sure you rest your horses occasionally, letting them properly graze!
Peter S.

Oh Peter,
You are in great poetic form of late, Never too late to take up songwriting,
Look at Leonard Cohen and Nana Mouskouri who juggles politics and a singing career, I saw her in concert in 2002 before I had heard of Hayley. Wow. I have just added up the years, as you mentioned recently when discussing the beautiful Olivia Newton John.
I'll say no more. comet
