Classic FM have just announced another increase in listeners, to 6.5 million. This is good news for Hayley, as Classic FM seem to be the only UK radio station to play her music. According to their playlist, she was on twice this morning, including the chart show. More power to their elbow, I say. . Hayley is also shown regularly on Classic FM TV - although their audience is very much smaller. I wonder if there are similar radio or TV stations in the US? Here is the full story (May 6).

Unfortunately, there's no radio station in the US that I know that air only classical music. The only thing nearest to is National Public Radio. It's a national radio company. They have "classical classical" concerts like Beethoven and Bach etc; plus operas. Not much highlighting the present classical crossover talent that we fancy.
On the TV side we have Public Broadcasting (PBS). This national network does have a great selection of classical programming. I've recorded many Charlotte Church, Andre Rieu and James Last concerts from PBS. Masterpiece Theater is a good show. Hayley will do a concert w/ them in the winter. Of course my local PBS station, as well as many others, show a wide range of British comedies. I can't go to bed without watching old favourites like Are You Being Served? and The Good Life.

Oh well, that's a pity, Joe. Classic FM has certainly helped Hayley over here. I can't help thinking that there's a big opportunity for some US radio station to make a lot of money from this gap in the market. As for Classic FM... they are not only getting more popular, but according to this new story, they are about to mount a £1M promotional campaign too. More good news for Hayley
