Well, Rhydian himself posted on his facebook in December that he and Hayley had gone to dinner together and had become good friends, so it's probably not the biggest secret. They seem to move in the same circles and according to his fan site he went to see Hayley and Jonathan perform at the London Palladium this year. So it seems that they're friends... but the rest is speculation. Libby... yeah, he is a little weird looking! I read that the blonde hair is both a cover-up of him being a ginger and is designed to make him stand out from the crowd. I guess it's working, because I now find him instantly recognisable! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif You know these entertainer types.... He does do a rather nifty version of 'Music of the Night': www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyRUwM-mReg (Those with their eyes peeled will catch a very quick glimpse of Hayley at the beginning). The hair does look rather striking on stage.... i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

the edited version is here on this thread but the whole article is at Wales OnlineI was somewhat concerned about the editing as much of it's essence was removed Hi Paul, If members wish to edit their quotes (or mods moderate) because of "too much information!", that's entirely up to them. That it was an edited version was noted at the end of the quote, and at the top, a link was provided as usual for anyone who was or is interested enough to want to read the full article. Speaking for myself, I do not think that the essence of it was removed, Cheers, Dave

I am getting too long in the tooth to be chalenging youn men to spud gun duels at dawn over questions of honour But I know of a bloke who has a good spud gun if needed The missing or edited information I would think was far more critical than the remaining information, it defines much of the character and moral standing of this young gentleman, which I would be far more impressed with than bunches of flowers, chocolates or smooth talking and flattering words of endearment. But oh boy does he have a great voice or what ?

I can put all your minds to rest. The following article was in today's Christchurch Press concerning the recent publicity about Hayley and Rhydian:-

Hi Steve Thanks for the link to this article. I felt right from the beginning that Uncle Nigel was speaking out of turn, but I guess it's understandable. Who wouldn't want a loveley girl like Hayley to become one of the family. I thought that either Hayley or Rhydian would speak out before long but I think it's sad that people like Hayley can't have 'good friends' without someone linking them romantically. I hope they remain good friends and that this media circus doesn't spoil it for them. That's all I'm going to say on the subject. Best wishes Grant

Thanks to Ross for posting the denial. That's all I'm going to say on the subject. Indeed, Grant, I think that's all any of us will say on the subject. This thread will remain open in case anyone wishes to discuss Rhydian's singing career but any further discussion about his relationship with Hayley will be considered an invasion of their privacy and is likely to be deleted.Roger

But oh boy does he have a great voice or what ? Doesn't he ever! The good thing to come out of this is that I wouldn't have heard of him otherwise. There's really not much exposure at all to classical music in Australia (and if there is, I haven't noticed it) so it's good to come on here and see what's happening in the UK. I was particularly impressed with the way that he acted out 'Music of the Night' at ALW in the Park. Captured that element of danger and lust in that song very well -- rather than just singing it through. I'm not at all surprised that he's in demand to tread the boards -- he'd be very good indeed!

I'm not meaning to dig up an old issue, but I just realised that the way the denial was issued seems rather odd.
I've noticed that the articles spreading the rumours where printed in UK papers. Then why issue a denial through Hayely's parents to the New Zealand press -- who are the only ones (and quite a few NZ papers at that and on the front page of the Southland Times) to carry the story? Why not get her manager to contact the UK papers in question? Maybe they were contacted and chose not to print the new developments. Or maybe this is seen as a good way to get Hayley back into the public mind in New Zealand.

Well, Roger, all I'm going to say in response to the NZ article is that I'm vastly relieved, especially after reading the full Wales article, which displeased me far more than the "edited" version. I probably don't need to explain why, and I don't dare to, for fear of deletion, which I'm already in danger of.

As a skeptically bent Kansas Citian I could laugh at those rumours of Rhydian. With denials on track, It is time we went back To discussing what Hayley looks pretty in!

Well, I've been out of circulation for a couple of days (one of my overseas business trips), and I find this whole thing rather upsetting. Don't get me wrong, I would love it if Hayley found a nice boyfriend, and would be very happy for her if she did. But what upsets me is that she can't go for a meal with someone without the rumour mill starting. She doesn't stand a chance does she? Why can't they leave the poor girl alone? If they want to print something about Hayley, why don't they concentrate on her music? Hype her as the greatest voice of the century (she is, isn't she?) that can sing a wider variety of music than anyone I have ever heard, and do all of it brilliantly. That can move a listener to tears in seconds. We are privileged to have a singer like her to listen to, so why not say so instead of spreading rumors about her love life? But no, she can create some of the best music around and they ignore her in favour of artists that have less talent in their whole bodies than there is in Hayley's toe nail clippings. But go for a meal with a male friend and suddenly they take an interest, put two and two together and make 22! Grrrr..... Also for Rhydian (to keep this at least partially on topic) they should write about his music too. He is a fine singer so why not say so. What he does in his own time is his own business surely.
Rant over.
Oh, and as for Hayley's speaking to her parents, I would guess that this thing probably blew up whilst Hayley was on one of those (27 hours is it?) flights. Her parents would have been concerned to read something like that, especially if they knew nothing about it, so Hayley contacted them first to put the record straight, then they decided to release a statement to the media. Hayley might have been too shattered after the flight (they do take it out of you) to do anything at the UK end.

Hi Martin,
I agree with you; however that is the price that artists have to pay when they are popular. I don't know how bad it is over there but here in the U S the tabloids actually fabricate things that aren't true.
