"The Charm of Magical Voices"

Hi everyone,

Today when I was shopping, I saw and bought this CD, only because Hayley is on it.

The CD is called "O Encanto das Vozes Mágicas" which in English means something like "The Charm of Magical Voices", December 2008.

This information taken from http://www.cdgo.com:

The disc "Magical Voices" already become a classic for the Portuguese for Christmas!
Both previous volumes reached the Platinum, clear signal of the public appetite for this kind of project.

In this third volume, which we called The charm of Magical Voices? Remains the formula and present great songs by the best performers. Il Divo, Russell Watson, Paul Potts, Luciano Pavarotti, Plácido Domingo and Renée Fleming are just some of the names included in this compilation really charming.

There's also a huge mistake, in the front cover Katherine Jenkins is mentioned although there isn't any song sung by her on the CD, or mention to her name in the track listing!

If this error had happened with Hayley I would return the CD that's for sure, I already sent an e-mail to them noticing that!

Dear Sirs,

I got this CD this weekend in Fnac Colombo, and wrote these lines for two reasons:

Firstly, my congratulations on having included the soprano Hayley Westenra on this compilation, one of the best voices in the world, and that despite being virtually unknown here in Portugal, with only 21 years old is holder of several records.

Her international debut album "PURE" (recorded when she was 16 years old) is the best-selling classical debut album ever in the UK, supplanting Charlotte Church, having sold something like 900.000 CDs, reaching three Platinum albums.

"Pure" is simply the best-selling classical album of the century in the UK so far, in front of big names like Russell Watson and Katherine Jenkins, among others.

Secondly, I detected a flaw:

Despite Katherine Jenkins being mentioned on the cover of the CD,there isn't any song sung by her in this CD, neither her name appears on the track listing!

I am very pleased to see Hayley in some of these compilations, it was the first time that I saw one of her songs on a Portuguese compilation and that's why I bought this title.

I've heard about the 2nd album "Return to Magical Voices" earlier this year, but when I saw the track list I thought Magical Voices? Where is Hayley?

As these compilations usually sell well, I hope that some people here notice Hayley's voice!

I received today the following e-mail from Farol Música, Lda.

Dear Sir,

First of all thank you for your contact and we have to apologize for the delay in responding, but in this Christmas period the work is doubled.

As for Hayley Westenra, it is with great pleasure that we included her in this third volume of Magical Voices (we had already included her in the first volume, two years ago), is an artist that we have been follow for some time, Farol Música was the distributor of her debut disk in our country.

The mention of Katherine Jenkins is an error that was corrected in the second edition. The artist was due to the alignment, having been withdrawn by the end due to licensing issues.

Our thanks again for your e-mail, it is with the comments of the end customer we can do better products to meet the tastes of the public.

Thank you for that, sorry, I'll try not to forget that problem in the future, I also had some difficulty in reading, but I do not remembered to increase the text size.

I only hope that Hayley's next international album gets some visibility here, although I don't think I would wait for it to be released here so I will order it from abroad.

Finally today I saw the advert to "O Encanto das Vozes Mágicas" or in English "The Charm of Magical Voices", I managed to recorded it , I think it is not too bad ...

It's the first time I saw something with Hayley on the Portuguese Television!

This CD entered this week the top 10 compilations charts, for the first time at position number 10.

Finally the only copy of PURE that I knew that was available at a local store was bought, maybe by someone that bought also this CD.
